I saw a shirt while watching a game the other day on MLB TV:

4GIVE8

I'm sorta curious as to why he is crucified and A Rod is still banging home runs. Both have been dicks for their response. I get the feeling Braun is going to be trying like hell to win the fans back and prove himself again. I'm not seeing that with A Rod. One fan seems to have forgiven him. As a Brewers fan, I care if he is now a cancer in the club house. I want good character guys who are good players. If he is and can't be one, then he should go.

Anyways. I have to ask in general: are these cremes and so on really bad for the body? Or is it just the enhancement? Cause lots of players were drinking 'super' coffee in the 70s and 80s. Probably before, too. They were enhancing.

I dunno. I like the idea and spirit of purity, but I'm practical and am not seeing it.

OK now where's the apology for blaming the sample collector for saying he tainted your sample because he's antisemitic or just a cubs fan?

Oh and to nadie, A-Rod is hated and I think he just trying to get enough HRs to get his bonus for passing Willie Mays so he can have extra cash for the time he has to take off.

Because A Rod appealed his suspension

By playing the race card and calling the people who caught him anti Semite Cubs fans?

I think he'll have the apology rolled up into one. No need to address that little event, right fellas? Fellas?

I wouldn't be surprised.

He apologized to the collector. I linked the whole statement in a thread yesterday.. I'll re-link it.

I sincerely apologize to everybody involved in the arbitration process, including the collector, Dino Laurenzi, Jr. I feel terrible that I put my teammates in a position where they were asked some very difficult and uncomfortable questions. One of my primary goals is to make amends with them.

ARod never got busted then started a smear campaign against some low level staffer in the drug testing company to save his own ass.

And Braun isn't playing by choice, he opted not to dispute.

I don't know what to make of his statement. I'm not cynical or lazy enough to have an oversimplistic "everyone sucks forever" reaction. At least the statement didn't sound like a smooth statement crafted entirely by PR people. It actually sounds more like an awkward Facebook post. Maybe that's what PR is now anyway.

Trade him to the Yankees where he belongs.

If Braun held a press conference and committed seppuku the sportswriters would biatch about how he got blood on their shirts. It's impossible to satisfy them once they hold a grudge.

That's not even close to the apology Dino deserves.  Simply mentioning his name once in passing doesn't come close to being an apology what Braun did to the man's life.

2013-08-23 10:49:36 AM
What world do you live in where Braun has taken all this criticism and A-Rod hasn't?

He only has himself to blame, huh?  No shiat. fark this guy.

Exactly. That's not even remotely "I am very sorry that I got you fired, insisted you were dishonest, called into question your integrity and reliability, and insinuated that you were anti-Semitic. If there's a way to make it up to you, please let me know."

Maybe not; I was only pointing out that he did apologize to him. However, for what it's worth, people almost never get the apology they deserve, or the apology they think they deserve.

I had figured it was because Braun is only 29 while Rodriguez is 38.  Braun probably figured he could fall on his sword, take the suspension like a man, win a bit of goodwill back from the fans, and still play for a good long while after he returns.  31 is still fairly young for a ballplayer (catchers' knees notwithstanding).  But A-Roid has way more to lose in his situation: if he gets the full 211 games, he might as well just retire, because nobody is going to want to sign a 40-year-old who hasn't seen a big league ball diamond in two seasons.  Not much upside there.

Personally I think they should have just banned him outright, what with him destroying evidence and actively working against the investigation and all.  But goodness knows what kind of a legal battle that would have ended up in.

Also, well, Braun was suspended for 65 games; A-Rod was given a suspension more than 3x as long because Bud Selig felt like he was easy to go after because no one likes him.

The investigation where they paid drug dealers to tell them what they wanted to hear?

Has MLB apologized for firing the arbitrator who overturned Braun's suspension, then subsequently changing their sample collection policy to match the interpretation of the guy they had just fired for making that interpretation?

Arbitrator overturns Braun's suspension based on arbitrator's interpretation of collection policy. MLB fires arbitrator. MLB then alters its sample collection policy to match the interpretation of the arbitrator they just fired.

Nope I did not see that, I would have my lawyer get a settlement from him, didn't he get fired for Braun's bullshiat.

He's still a scumbag for dragging him through this crap and apologizing years late.

desertgeek: I have one word for his statement: Bullsh*t.

I think what rings most hollow to me is that this is a written statement. There's no indication that he even READ the thing, much less wrote it himself.

It's just that much more of a contrast to that podium-on-the-field statement he gave years ago where he stringently denied everything and "the truth was on his side".
