Affleck is a talented actor and director, but this just feels all kind of wrong.

Not my choice.

But not my call either.

It will make money, regardless.

Why a new incarnation of the character? Seems silly.

Have I been eating too much copper, aluminum, and iron? It's April first, right?

Well, if Daredevil is any indication, this movie should be an instant classic that completely redefines the Superhero genre with its originality and quality film-making.

Oh, and appatently Jason Mewes will play Addict Corpse In Morgue #1.

Nabb1: Affleck is a talented actor and director, but this just feels all kind of wrong.

Uh, yeah.

This is not Nolan picking Heath Ledger to play The Joker in "The Dark Knight" because, frankly, MoS didn't have the credibility that "Batman Begins" had for Nolan to make such a decision as this.  This has the makings of a clusterfark of the worst way.

And that cheering sound you hear is Marvel/Disney high-fiving each other knowing DC/WB farked this up.

2013-08-22 10:12:54 PM
It will also be "interesting" to see how he handles Batman's voice ...

As I said in the other thread...why the hell would Affleck agree to this? Seems like he could have just directed the next Batman movie and made even more money with more creative control.

Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms

Wow. My desire to see that movie just plummeted.

WB must've thrown seriously big money for Affleck to say "yes" to this.  Granted it wouldn't be the $50 million they wanted to give Bale to be Batman again, but maybe half that would've sufficed.

Maybe that's part of the deal. I'd love to watch a Batman movie directed by Affleck.

Judging from the internet reaction, the outrage from this casting is probably going to be more entertaining than the movie could ever be.

But wouldn't he make way more than $25M by directing the next Batman film? I would think if he asked to direct it they would have gladly agreed to let him do it.

Can he be any worse than George Clooney?

I'm not outraged by it, I just find it confusing, and I feel like a movie starring Cavill and Affleck (two pretty boys, even if one of them is a good actor) is a 10 year step backwards in the genre.

Clooney was at least a solid Bruce Wayne.

I was going to say Daredevil did the "realistic superhero movie" before Nolan made it cool.

Considering that Nolan/Goyer/Snyder were able to get MoS to $600 million worldwide, don't think they'd want to screw that up.

Time for the House GOP to step up. No increase in the debt ceiling unless Christian Bale continues to play Batman.

2013-08-22 10:19:24 PM
So about 2 more years until the whole Superhero movie thing plays out, eh? I wonder how far we can project that? Will that mean that the resurgence in synth and 70's-80's pop music will end around that time, too? Same for the resurgence of 80's talent shows?

Much can be foretold while banking on the certainty of an Affleck-headlined disaster...

That's the next Superman film. I mean the next Batman film, its own frachise. This is my point. This next movie is a sequel to the Superman movie, and thus there's less creative wiggleroom. The next standalone Batman film should give a ton more oppeortunity for the director in charge.

I actually think Ben Affleck is too good an actor to be in a Snyder-directed superhero flick.

Is this a reboot or in the same continuity as Batman Begins/Dark Knight/Rises ?  The Dark Knight Rises had a pretty obvious sequel setup at the end, and I guess it could have also set up for a new person to take the Batman helm, but now that they're saying Superman is involved as well, is this just an alternate universe thing?  Are they still going to do a movie from where TDKR left off?

It's the sequel to Man of Steel. I don't think that was intended to take place in the Nolanverse. At least I hope not.
