I always thought girls went to malls to have sex in a very uncomfortable place.

Ads? Please, most girls are indoctrinated to the shopping lifestyle before they can read.

I got off easy; my mom was old-school and learned Depression era thrifty ways from Granny, even though she didn't need them.

Having a 10 year old daughter, how is this not appropriate? I'm guessing it comes from someone who either hates socialization in school or will never have children due to the shrill harpy noises emenating from their mouths. As a corporate entity, the best thing you can do is ignore the crazies. They make no difference in your actual sales.

FTA:Patricia Parsons, communications professor at Mount Saint Vincent University, said she thought the campaign was tasteless, a bit sexist and humiliating to women.

"Unfortunately there probably are young women who probably find this thing kind of funny. It's one of the things though that I suspect their parents don't find very funny. And I did note yesterday on Twitter that a father chimed in and said, 'So this is what they think of our daughters,'" she said.

Well. This is what humorless coonts that need to justify their useless jobs do to get attention. I'm sure Patricia is very smart.

Apparently some very smart boffin decided that it is derogatory to notice that teenage girls like to purchase clothing, and treat it as a Very Important Thing.. I am certain that Patricia will change society forever by being the single person that fussed about it, while claiming that lots of other people did too.

Yup.  That is the rule book we work from thanks to being complete dicks to women for several thousand years.  It sucks, but hey, at least we could usually get laid without threat of stoning or societal shunning for the last couple hundred decades.

How many cats do you suppose that she "owns?"

I dunno, the article claims that lots of people were offended. Maybe so. Hopefully this means that every girl that saw the ad will understand and decide to  purchase only manly products, when they are forced to buy things. Because teenaged girls certainly would respond to the ad in a bad way and need someone to focus their anger.

What is wrong with girls enjoying cheap clothes for personal taste? My daughters choice are cheap and printed as needed online. The fancy stuff is made even more regularly. Textiles have never been cheaper than they are now. I can
spend that money on her or on savings I don't want to spend on toys or video games.

"Most" = upper-middle class (and up), 12-year-olds (and up), sizes 00--10.  I should add "blonde and tan" because the caucasian ones all look the same.

Females outside this demographic might or might not give a crap.  I'm sorry you don't know many of those.

Girls must overcome the malocentric manocracy by not buying things that please them. Only then will humanity prosper.

CSB time:

I was the only guy working in a realtor's office once where all the women had that exact attitude.

One day, a pickup truck ran off the road in front of the office. Of course since "only men drive trucks", they start making jokes about how all men are bad drivers, the most common being some variation of 'he was distracted by his penis'. I said "I think that might have been a woman", and the boss fires back "one more word and you're fired".

A few minutes later the driver comes walking into the office asking to use the phone. The boss casually asks "was the driver hurt". The woman answers "I'm not hurt, I was distracted and ran into the ditch".

At that exact moment, all the realtors stared looked like they wanted to kill me. I just looked at the boss, made a 'zip my lips' motion, and started to get back to work.

I was fired on the spot.

/worth it

Really, nobody actually looked at the ads? It's not that they portrayed girls as loving shopping, it's that they made it look like girls don't want/need serious education. Or that they're incapable.

Damn, that's going to be tough. As a woman, I love not only hard-bodied well-muscled men, but also svelte, big-bosomed women.

My life will be meaningless if we all look like dumpy androgynous robots.

That it does... Sinfest is #1 when it comes to making war on (radical feminism's delusional and rather offensive caricature of) men:

"Well I think it's as they say, 'A day late and a dollar short,' it's one of those things they should have done in the first place, before they ever implemented this plan. There should have been some decision-making around the whole idea of whether or not something is appropriate, tasteful and an ethical approach to communication which is what this campaign was supposed to be," she said.

sooo... you are just throwing a hissy with no end goal?  This is why you never cave to these people, they will NEVER back off, and you just validated their "Im so empowered, but far too fragile to have a joke made about people who are kind of like me but much younger than me" attitude.

/ it sounds as though Parsons wont be going to the mall, which will also help the malls reputation among its target audience.  Old whiney biatches are a drag at the mall.
