No NFL Football is insignificant subby.  You're a bad person fan and you should feel bad.

You're aware that the NFL is fake, right?  They don't actually hit each other and all the outcomes are scripted.  The goal is to get the most profitable players and teams into the most profitable games.  If you want to watch real football, with real action, turn on the UFL.

Greaseball in play in Detroit as the Patriots have fumbled twice now.

Better late than never. Newton doesn't look so sharp so far

2013-08-22 08:09:35 PM
Of course, this being the Lions, they're only up 3-0. Great offense there, guys.

Man, where is everybody? This thread is crickets.

I was expecting some cleaner play by Detroit in this game.  Offense looks like they are missing the best player on the planet, and the defense could be a little less douchey.
Pretty close to what I was expecting.

Yeah, consensus seems to be he'll be a top 5 QB this year even sans Greg Jennings.

Ravens look a lot sharper than last week.

Brady throws a pick. Score will still be 3-0 after this Detroit series.

Yep. Ray Rice made that look easy.

Jennings was hurt a lot last year. Didn't matter. I am a bit worried about the injured LT

Until the Lions get a legit 1K yrd. running back threat and a legit slot receiver threat, I have to stay away from Megatron or Stafford.  It's just too easy to shut them down when there is nothing else to worry about. Tell me I'm wrong.

At least the Lions defense hasn't completely sucked.  The WRs #2 through #20 are terrible.  TURRIBLE!

Bush is just running around these Patriots defenders like they're standing still.

Oh hey DET still has Tony Sheffler. I can't tell if that was a good series by the Lions or a terrible one by the Patriots defense.

Did the league stop fining players for giving away TD footballs to fans? I've seen it done a lot more lately.

Definitely not wrong, not at all.  I think they've made some good moves in the offseason.  They're not perfect, that's for damn sure, but they are getting better.

Considering the Lions didn't have a 1k runner last year, WR #2 (Burleson) injured himself, WR #3 (Young) was a cancer, and WR #4 (Broyles) injured himself and Calvin Johnson still set a NFL record, I think you're OK picking Calvin Johnson.

Even without the TO, that was a good job by the Lions D.  Bentley finally did something good for once!

Ted Ginn, ladies and gentlemen. Would've been hilarious if he got Don Beebe'd by the punter though.

2013-08-22 08:29:18 PM
yeah, I think we just saw the problems with having too pass-happy of an offense.  It should be 28-0 Lions, but it's 13-0.  Too much dependency on the passing game, not enough running. Although, that was a good defensive stand by the Patriots.

ok patriots fans, back off the ledge. this is how belichick riles the troops.

stay with me here.

both teams benefit from a lions rout of the pats tonight.

but why irishman4, why is that the case?

well you see, its simple. Jim Scwhartz used to work with Bill, so you know they have a good relationship and understand how it works.

What happens when the Patriots get punched in the mouth*? simple, they respond, and they learn. they lose this game, horribly, and then they learn, and they run off 10 in a row.

What happens if the Lions beat the shiat out of the patriots? Being a notoriously horrible team, they gain confidence from seeing how they can hang with a great team, qb and coach that the patriots bring to town.

it makes sense. it makes sense.

I understand that you little guys start out with your woobies and you think they're great... and they are, they are terrific. But pretty soon, a woobie isn't enough. You're out on the street trying to score an electric blanket, or maybe a quilt. And the next thing you know, you're strung out on bedspreads Ken. That's serious.

"Week 3 is the most meaningful of the meaningless games. Let's see who can contribute and make their roster. "

So it's the most meaningful...then you talk about who can contribute/make the roster, which Week 3 of preseason is the least meaningful for, because those players that are playing for spots on the team get the fewest snaps.

/I'm fearing that the Bills are going to cut Kaufman and the Pats are going to take him and I'm going to have to root for the Patriots
