As in other thread. The Theater owner is a HERO!

2013-08-22 04:46:48 PM
Boutwell says he won't show the popular flick about a butler who served eight U.S. presidents because it has actress Jane Fonda in it.

He said Fonda's statements and demonstrations against the Vietnam War caused him to view her as a traitor, and he won't show any movie involving her in his theaters.

Boutwell is a Korean War veteran who trained pilots during the Vietnam War.

Well, the owner has the right to refuse business. Even if I don't agree with him or her.

File this under 'who cares?'.

It's heroic to stand up for what you believe is right. No matter that it cost him money or acceptance into the main stream way of thinking.
So for standing up for what is right.
 He is a HERO!

I said for what is right. Not what Fonda said was right. She was and is a traitor.
What Fonda stood up for, and what she did to American POW's was wrong.
Twist your logic as much as you want. I wouldn't waste my spit on her.

Why don't you re-tell that fake story about Hanoi Jane giving the secret notes to the Vietnam commander. That's always a good tale.

Do you wanna get your story straight before you post again or do you want to move right to the debunked "Jane Fonda passed notes from POWs on to the VC" stupidity?

Oh, snap!

No I'm talking about Fonda posing for pictures with the Vietcong and telling POW that they should ask for forgiveness and admit they are war criminals. Aiding and abetting the enemy. If her father had not been famous she might have gone to prison (as she should have).

Yeah, bullshiat. The theater owner is just another asshat who can't let go of something that happened decades ago.

She was stupid and she apologized for it. But do keep flogging that dead horse.

you mean her protesting a war in which america was the aggressor and in which americans routinely killed civilians, including women and children?

2013-08-22 05:26:54 PM
What a pointless gesture.

How many people are going to start hating Jane Fonda because of these actions? About zero.

2013-08-22 05:27:10 PM
The Vietnam War was a disgrace anyway. And it was 40 years ago. Move the hell on people.

i'd be curious, too, to see if he has banned all jane fonda movies. or if it's just this one. in which case, it would be for the reason i'm thinking.

It was a crazy farking time, and I don't really fault anybody for what side they came down on back then. Except for Mitt Romney, who was protesting FOR the war.

Still getting your blood pressure up over something that happened 40 years ago?  Aren't you tired from carrying that stone around for so long?

It's amusing how many people I've seen getting all steam-and-brew over this topic over the past few days, who weren't even born yet when it happened.  That's some quality talking point power.

Seriously. I turn 44 in a few weeks. Most of my life is behind me at this point. I have friends from high school who are grandparents. (happily I never had children and wouldn't start now anyway). Yet this happened before I was even born! Who in the hell carries a grudge like that?

It's Kentucky, and the movie doesn't have explosions or talking cars.  No one was going to see it anyway.

Will he still show "9 to 5"? The All-American-ness of Dolly Parton probably balances out the commie pink-ness of Jane Fonda in it. Then again, Lilly Tomlin is a lesbo, so probably not. But Dabney Coleman's a republican, so maybe yes.

Possibly not.  Studios do package deals with theater owners, so usually they can't pick and chose what films they do and don't run.  This may come back to bite him as a breach of contract suit.

Yeah, that would be a helluva a cast reunion today, wouldn't it?

/Dolly's also VERY pro gay rights, though she's a bit quiet about it unless asked.

What did some aging professor tell you all about everything he did protesting the war back in his glory days. Or are you him?

She did way more than pose for pictures. Hell read her own (if late) apology for what she did.

Snappy comments don't make the theater owner less of a Hero.

He is doing the right thing. If Fonda had, she would not have herself said what she did was wrong.

That's pretty much exactly why I thought he was doing it.  When I first heard that she was playing Nancy Reagan, I assumed the internet was trolling.

She was actively aiding the enemy.  You can pretend she wasn't a traitor all you want, but she had pictures made just to prove it.  I'll post one, but I'm sure you've seen them.
