NYCNative: DownDaRiver: Maktaka: simrobert2001: Infinite Monkeys In Front Of A Computer: Let me see if I have this right.  Cedar Point doesn't want to ruin the sanctity of traditional marriage so they won' allow gays to participate in their weddings....that take place in an amusement park....officiated by zombies. It certainly sounds like it would cheapen the experience for the non-gays.

NO.  They won't do it because they provide marriage certificates.  The STATE OF OHIO will not provide one to a gay couple, so ceadar point can't provide it by proxy.  They simply don't want to pay for those to to stay at a hotel, and stay in the park if the STATE OF OHIO will not allow them to get married.

No, and you didn't read the article apparently. They also allow already married couples to participate as a sort of "commitment ceremony" thing. The gay couple asked to participate as such, which violates nothing whatsoever. Cedar Point pussed out and cancelled the whole event rather than risk making bigots upset at seeing someone happy in a way that doesn't conform to their religious beliefs at the event.

You apparently read the article but failed at comprehending it
Take off your blinders
Not everything is how you want to see it

"We cannot legally have weddings here unless they are male/female couples," he wrote. "It's currently the law in Ohio, and we aren't going to deviate from that. It's their law, not ours. If it were legal in Ohio, of course we'd allow same-sex submissions. Nobody here is trying to discriminate against anyone or any guest. This is an issue that needs to be taken up with government, not Cedar Point."

Reread that as many times as need be
Eventually, you will comprehend it

Or we can simply use our knowledge of the situation and realize that they are full of shiat.

There are many churches who perform same sex marriage ceremonies in Ohio and in many other states where those unions are not recognized by the state, but the ceremony it's perfectly legal to have.

You know what else is perfectly legal even though states don't issue licenses for them? The renewal of wedding vows. You know, like the amusement park said they would be doing.

The renewal of vows was purely ceremonial, not legal/official
Churches can do what they want, doesn't make it legal/official
Cedar was going to hold a legal/official marriage session
These guys aren't married, only engaged. They aren't renewing their vows

Mine or your opinion on that subject is not relevant
In Ohio, gay marriage is not legal
Cedar could not hold a legal marriage ceremony event that included an illegal bond
Rather than face an outcry, which is a given when someone doesn't get their way
They choose to cancel to avoid the whole issue
That is smart business sense on them
Again, blame Ohio law, not Cedar

Ooba Tooba: thismomentinblackhistory: Any Ohioans around to back me up when I say the majority of Cedar Point employees are either gay or likely to become pregnant?

Yes. Despite the fact they no longer do song and dance numbers at the theater.

Back in 90-91 when I worked there, gay zombies had their own special "shower hour" in the public showers of the employee dorms. regardless, being a straight man at queer point made it easy find tail. From the cheerleader types, to the goths to the "phag hags", all the girls were just giving away the poon when they found a straight dude.

/Had a gay roommate while i lived there
//Lucky i didn't come away from it a living, breathing, STD
///Now i feel old :(

Were you a ride operator? If so, how many times do you figure you've said " Stay in the car until it comes to a complete stop, and enjoy your day AT.......Cedar Point"?

I once went on a date (opposite sex) and, well, let's just say we got very drunk. There is Vegas-style wedding chapel in the French Quarter run by this cool guy named Father Tony (an actual Father). We were around the corner in a restaurant and she said, "Tonight I feel like doing something I've never done before."

My mind raced for answers. Ass-to-mouth? Rob a bank and go on a Bonnie & Clyde spree? And then I remembered the chapel around the corner. So we went and had one of those "commitment ceremonies" replete with recorded organ music and cheap plastic rings. We had a BLAST.

So to wind down to the point, why can't a same-sex couple do the same thing? The article states that it's not an actual marriage. Well guess what? NEITHER WAS MINE. But hey, I have a johnson and she has lady parts, so I guess it's just fine.

Right, Cedar Point?

Well hopefully all the Gays and their supporters boycott and that means shorter lines for all of us intolerant bigots.
