The stock market has some of the dumbest factors going on. I wish they'd slow the whole thing down and limit trading to a few hours a week. All this up-down flutter is crap.

Can anyone explain the rules behind the stopping of trading and the cancelling of trades?

I just heard about some company screwing up with automated trading - but that they'd be able to 'cancel' them.  Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose?  I can buy X and if it goes up - I keep it.  But if it goes down, I cancel the order?

Oh, well, I guess you kids will have to go outside and play.
Enjoy some fresh air.
Go on, now.

I read the entire article.

I'm apparently stupid, because other than "NASDAQ is broken" I didn't understand any of it.

This is why I have a financial counselor.

Well, no. Let's say that you go to a car lot and you see a car with the sticker price on the window and a zero has blown off so the car is on sale for "13,00" - you wouldn't have the right to buy the car for $1,300. Same for a trade - if something is off the market by a large amount trades can be considered errors.

Capitalism is the best system, providing you can assume direct control to make sure it works.

I made some "faulty options trades" too - I also get a mulligan, right?

15:02 ET: Trading in symbol AAME is now open. All other securities will be released at 15:10 with a 15-minute quote only period with trading resuming at approximately 15:25. NASDAQ will not be cancelling open orders on the book prior to a re-open. Customers who wish to cancel their orders may do so and any customer who wishes to not participate in the re-opening should cancel their orders prior to the resumption of trading.

Emphasis added. The rest of the market has remained open and is still pretty healthy today, but we're about to reopen. Could be a bumpy ride, at least for the first few milliseconds.
