Backs a steroid user over a teammate. It's a good thing Red Sox fans are blinded by 2004 and 2007 otherwise they'd run his cheating ass out of town.

All f*cking staged.  Every last minute of it.

Woe be to any telephone that may happen across the path of those two.

Headline should read "coont backs fellow coont"

Well, it was a needless plunking. I may hate A-Rod, but I'm also a rational adult who sees no goddamn reason, within the confines of an actual baseball game, to hit him in that situation.

To warm up the bloodthirsty masses for football season?

By "backs him" you mean he said "it's f*cked up to throw at people in general" and "we're in a playoff race and it pissed the Yankees off and they're killing it now."

Both of which are entirely true and neither of which mention any particular sympathy for Rodriguez - more upset about the fact that the Yankees started giving a sh*t and beat them.

I wish all teams started plunking Aroid his first at bat.

It was a 3-0 count...might as well make the walk worth it with an HBP

2013-08-22 06:07:40 PM
I see the story was getting stale, had to ask someone to chime in and restart the media circus....

\only thing more pointless than that HBP has been the faux rage over it
\\hell, Farrell's probably glad he can bench Dempster the way he's been pitching this month....

It was 3-0 largely because Dempster was trying (and failing) to hit him from pitch 1.

/any southie can bean A-Rod
//any southie can also give up a homer to a-rod

Dempster was awesome before this. Now he's just awesomer.

I think it's more "I'm scratching your back, please don't knife mine."

Poor Dempster will be even more mad now the Yankees will most likely retaliate for him hitting Arod.

"It's not that I didn't think it was right because Alex and I are friends, because once you cross the white lines, everyone's on their own," Ortiz told USA TODAY Sports. "But we've got Tampa right on our heels, and that pitch woke up a monster in the Yankees' team at that moment.

Yeah that is really backing A-Rod over a teammate. He is saying what is true, it was a stupid farking move. They are in the middle of a close playoff race where every game counts, it isn't like they are 10 games up. Plus they are playing against a good team who can get hot on you in a second and bury you with runs, so you have to play almost perfect against them. With all of that what does this idiot do, he goes out and satisfies a personal vendetta against somebody that was against the best interest of the team. He didn't think about the team at all, all he thought about is how doing this was going to make him look like some type of hero. If I were the owner I would suspend him without pay for conduct detrimental to the team, if that is possible,

If that were possible then they'd have suspended him and Lackey for their actual performance, and the Yankees would've suspended A-Rod so they don't have to pay him.

Ortiz should stfu.  Regardless of if he disagrees with it, he shouldn't be airing it out to the press.  You back your teammate in public.  Now as to hitting people in baseball, I like it.  It's a way to police the game.  It should be reserved for on the field issues though.  Like slapping the ball out of a defensive players glove so the hitter would be safe.  Or yelling "I got it" when baserunning so the defensive players back off the ball.  That type of thing.

2013-08-22 08:47:15 PM
He has to STFU since he tested positive in 2003. He can't look like a hypocrite. "Yeah, it's ok if they bean A-Rod for being a steroid user, but don't hit me even though I was/am a steroid user"

1. He didn't back ARod.
2. What he said was true.

It's been entertaining to read NESN message boards about this, Cheat-rod, and Roid-rod, etc, etc, completely ignoring their own juiced monkeys on the roster.

Then again, i never expected intelligence or rational thought out of Boston.

Deliberately throwing at a batter is a far greater embarrassment to baseball than PED's could ever be.

Is that some kind of euphemism?

I have been laughing, too.

Funny thing is if you mention Ortiz's failed test in 2003, they say, "IT IS BECAUSE OF A BAD SUPPLEMENT!" or "IT WAS A FALSE POSITIVE" OR "IT WASN'T A BANNED SUBSTANCE!", or "HE NEVER TESTED POSITIVE!".
