BATH SALTS are the devil's drug for sure.

Neck and face tattoos are always a sign of positive life choices.

Why do people use bath salts?  I mean, I can understand other drugs that tend to have a calming/euphoric effect like marijuana or opiates, or psychedelics/hallucinogens that open your mind and allow you to see the world different, and though they don't appeal to me at all, I can see why some people could get behind things like meth or cocaine that give you that 'alpha dog king of the world tons of energy' effect.

From what I've heard though bath salts just make you feel jittery, anxious, nervous, paranoid, and angry, and there's plenty of evidence that they can lead you to do crazy things, what's the appeal?

A bath salt battered bicyclist doesn't sound too tasty.

I bet it does give you that alpha dog king of the world with tons of energy, and in addition to anger etc.  I think it's super cheap vs coke which can put a helluva hole in your wallet (and brain).

Meridian isn't a small town. It's a suburb of Boise.

Sucks that this kind of crap is coming here. One thing about doing this crap in Idaho will end up with is someone getting shot. We can openly carry on our hips handguns here. So get high on bath salts and rampage the wrong person and you're done, and that is highly likely here.

..because for the longest time it wasn't a controlled substance (and STILL isn't in many states). The law is just NOW catching onto it.

It may be legal, but I have literally never once seen anyone doing this in Boise. I think it's mostly just farmers and ranchers out in the boonies who do that.

How much do you want to bet this guy wasn't on bath salts at all? It's becoming the go-to boogeyman whenever someone does something batshiat, but like the face-eating guy, I bet they'll find he wasn't on them at all.

Some of those  copbath salt videos are pretty funny/sad.  Some dude flopping around like a fish making a lot of noises is fairly amusing if you can give yourself permission to laugh at it.

A quick Wikipedia search says it's easy to smuggle (undetectable by drug sniffing dogs) and not detected by most basic drug tests.

Users probably think they can trick random drug tests for their job and are less likely to be caught by police drug searches.

Anywhere in Phoenix or outlying 'burbs... some trailer parks in there I suppose but yeah.  You can get it pretty much anywhere.

So this guy gets "high on bath salts" (I don't buy it), then beats up a teenager and steals his skateboard, breaks into an apartment and attacks someone, beats up a bicyclist (possibly), throws rocks at a group of construction workers, and then beats one construction worker within an inch of his life with a shovel.  Immediately after all of this he quietly is arrested by police?  We're talking MINUTES here, not a couple of hours.  I don't know what's going on, but that man wanted to go to jail. BAD.

They're cheap as dirt and you can buy them at the gas station.  So when you have no cash and none of your dealers will sell to you anymore because you're too much trouble, that's what you do.  Or, huff paint or drink nail polish remover.

Probably one of the popular things on the list "Most recent activities of people found dead".

Ah but do we really know? A ton of research chemicals aren't picked up by normal drug tests.

Yeah, I get that they're easier to get and cheaper, I just don't understand the basic logic of doing any drug that doesn't make you feel good, and may actually make you feel quite a bit worse.

Drugs are for improving on reality, why would you take something that makes things shiattier?

People take this stuff because in a lot of places, it is technically legal while relatively harmless things like marijuana aren't.

If prohibition has taught us anything, it's that the people who want to get high are going to find a way to do so.  If they can't have beer, they'll drink turpentine or sterno.  If they can't get pot, they'll take "bath salts."

As a reformed drunk and addict I can tell you that when I was using if someone told me that a pill would make me feel worse than I felt now I'd ask if I could have two. When you're an addict you just want to feel different to take your mind off your miserable life, it didn't matter if the drug made me feel better or worse just so long as it made me feel different.

Many people get high to avoid the way they feel when they are sober, which can be unpleasant for them because of mental or emotional problems.

Addicted people get high because they have a compulsion to do so, and how they feel is not really a part of it.

Maybe "taking drugs for entertainment" is not the situation for a lot of users.

same here. and that should be a felony. farking sick & tired of judges letting scumbags walk away easy after abusing a poor little animal. they recently upped the ante for such scumbags in NJ and i'm hoping other states will follow suit.

I, for one, am just glad we've finally balanced out the drug world so we don't have to describe every god damned drug as "sweet". We can finally use "savory", without suffering linguistic embarrassment.

Didn't the feds make pretty much all the so-called "bath salts" illegal a couple of years ago?
