Lando Lincoln: lantawa: Still scratching my head and wondering how a majority of Americans, slim majority that it was, voted for this guy....twice no less.

Hmmm...what could it be...

Oh yeah. I remember.

"John McCain does not speak for the McCain campaign."

"I don't know how many houses I own."

"Romney can just shake the Etch-A-Sketch after the primaries."

"If I'm the father of Obamacare, that means I can kill it."

Bill the Cat could have beaten those candidates.

Lando Lincoln: We're not terrified that Obama is going to take our guns, or that's he's going to force Obamacare down our throats, or raise our taxes eleventy billion percent, or replace our current legal system with Sharia law. Your side is, though. Pussies. Afraid of shiat that doesn't even pose a threat.

Oh sure, Democrats are pushing to have the Supreme Court rule against him, the same way the Republicans tried to get the Supreme Court to overrule the healthcare plan that Republicans came up with...

Both sides are bad!

there's the party in power, and there's everybody else biatching about the party in power. before your thin-skinned buddy and his sensitive band of pussies came to the white house, the party in power took their blows and moved on. but now every democrat out there is clutching their pearls and whining like a 5 year old about how it's soooooooo unfair that the opposition dares criticize the president.

which is especially ironic, considering you classy lot spent the bush years calling dubya a chimp, a retard, the devil incarnate and god knows what else.

politics is a contact sport. sack up and deal with it.

Satanic_Hamster: Acceptable:
Calling the President by only his last name.  For example, "Eisenhower is one tough son of a biatch."

Not acceptable:
Referring to the president as "Mister ${current president's last name}."  For example, "Mister Reagan sold weapons to Iranian terrorists."
Referring to the president by his full name (including middle names) for no reason and not including his title.  For example, "Herbert Walker Bush decided to go on vacation today, that lazy cracker."

However, in a news cast, or in newsprint, first reference should still contain the title.
"Today, President Eisenhower...[insert statement or deed]"  Anchor 1.
"Eisenhower's, one tough S.O.B." Anchor 2.
It's not even about respect of the person, it's respect of the office.  And the term "mister" isn't stand-alone.  It's not Mr. Clinton, or Mr. Bush, or Mr. Obama, it's Mr. President (Pres. Washington originated this, because he didn't want any You're Highness or Your Majesty business).

Especially in writing, there's no excuse to not at least have "Pres." before the a surname. Whatever happened to professionalism?

/prefers sources that use "ACA" or "Affordable Care Act" over "Obamacare"
//even uses "Former Pres." and "Former Gov." with the exception of the likes of Palin, quitters aren't entitled to titles.

Sure they did. Why, I can't ever remember a time when people were told not to criticize Bush in "a time of war." Nope. That just never happened.

Come to think of it, it's still "a time of war."  So when baggers criticize the President, they are siding with the terrorists.

Lando Lincoln: I don't like it when people call the President "Mister." Mister Obama. Mister Bush. It's not a breach of protocol, but I think it should be.

Madison, and the House of Representatives asked George Washington to go with a simple title- Mr. President.  So it is not unreasonable to go with Mr before referring to a President by name.  He is not a ruler but an elected official.  Politicians have enough ego problems lets us not fuel them more.

You could have been stuck with:  "His High Mightiness, the President of the United States and Protector of their Liberties,"

My counter-argument is the hysterical reaction from the right after the Dixie Chicks disrespected President Bush, and the frequently repeated phrase, "If you're not with us, you're with the terrorists!"
