I don't get the concern. I've been using Windows since the 286/386 days. I have NEVER known M$oft to do anything illegal, sneaky or underhanded. They've always been open and straightforward with their users and other software companies. Nary a lie from their lips, ever.

Paragons of Virtue. That should be M$soft's name.

No one believes this tripe. It's impossible to write special code to cause other computers to access your computer. This whole conspiracy rests on the flimsy idea that there are 'hackers' out there who can do this kind of stuff. Microsoft writes great code and there is no way they or anyone else would be able to violate someone's privacy.

good thing you didn't link one of the many reputable sites reporting this, and instead gave the us a link to someplace called testosteronepit.com.  i mean, when people want credible news and see some crap like businessinsider.com, they always think, "gee, this would seem a lot more reasonable if the site sounded like a url from dick enhancement spam."

cman: uber humper: cman: AdamK: so at what point do companies start dropping windows because it's to blame for corporate sabotage and spying? i mean governments love probing individual people but as soon as there's a $ loss to all of this then time to throw it all out the window

And replace it with what?

Linux is a joke and Apple is expensive as shiat, and not everyone can make a hackintosh

We're stuck with it

Have you used in Linux distros latley? What's the joke about it? The majority of the web is running on it right now, along with about 1/3 1/2 smart phones.

Yes I have used it recently. Its still a joke. Until Linux has uniformity then Linux will be a joke.

Android is based on Linux, but guess what? Its uniformity amongst devices, which can be problematic, isn't as bad as trying to fix an Ubuntu problem with instructions for Arch Linux.

If you NEED a click-and-drool, you better stick with OSX.

/Apps that a moron would use all have major distro specific instructions
//although, I did just had a hard time installing Scrivener on Fedora 64

It's crap like this that actually makes me believe that within my lifetime "the year of the linux desktop" will cease to be a myth.  It's very difficult for the rest of the world to justify using MS software when they are handing the keys to your endpoints directly to the US government.  Especially when the rules specifically allow the NSA to spy on foreign systems at will.

It's also stuff like this that makes me very angry that Autodesk Production Suite does not support anything but Windows.  I'd have ditched MS in my entire office after XP if we could get a decent modeling software in Linux.

HAd to purchase a new computer. Windows7 install would have cost me a bunch more money. Went ahead and bit Windows8 figuring I'd get used to it.

I did not get used to it. It blows dog. I will NEVER like this shiat.
