People who wanted to end slavery were racist homophobe apartheid supporters? Who knew?

2013-08-22 09:38:02 AM
Probably.

To paraphrase:  Hurry up and do this so the millions I've got invested in this will make me billions.

Another all derp headline?

2013-08-22 09:39:18 AM
If I won a Presidential election but still lost to the worst President in our nation's history I'd go insane too.

I think subby came just before he got to the end of writing that headline and messed up the ending.

What exactly does subz think abolitionist means?

Al Gore lost an election to Kennedy?

Good one, subby!  Now do the one about him claiming he invented the Internet!

Troll headline is trolling.

Or it's not, in which case minus two internets to subby.

That's not what the article says. Submitter is a troll.

I'm surprised Subby didn't call him "algore", because that's totally insulting but no one knows why.

2013-08-22 09:47:19 AM
Haha, Al Gore talks about the distressing numbers involved in the climate situation, but subby is there to make a strawman of Al Gore making a strawman.

//We still don't care what Al Gore says, but we love when idiots are hypocritical.

It's actually "al-Gore"

"an climate change denier"

Is that anything like "an hero"?

Pants full of macaroni!!: "an climate change denier"

Is that anything like "an hero"?

Subby's an abolitionist, not an English professor.

Al Gore wants subby to understand a few things, but subby keeps ducking so as to make sure it keeps going over his head.  Subby soon to stand for subterranean.

No, I'm pretty sure that I'm a minimal expressionist post-modern neo-symbolist.

I'm optimistic that in another 10-20 years, the federal government might actually be able to pass productive legislation on climate change.

Elbarfo: To paraphrase:  Hurry up and do this so the millions I've got invested in this will make me billions.

And you'd rather not do it so the people with billions invested in farking things up will make trillions instead.  How very freethinking and rebellious of you.

I'm pretty sure that by the time our government responds to climatic issues it'll be too late to make a farking difference, just like with education and healthcare.

Or we're engaged in a civil war with people like subby who by that time will be calling thermometers demonic and burning TV weathermen as witches.

Honestly the best chance we have is the alternative energy industry. If we could stop burning coal and gas and export those technologies to the developing world it would make a huge impact. The government does not necessarily have to be involved for that to happen.

There is strong correlation.

Wait. Abolitionist?

2013-08-22 10:33:20 AM
Well, hey, you could always refute him with the well-researched, scientific evidence coming from such scientific luminaries as Lord Monckton and Anthony Watts.

...oh, wait, they've got as much experience with climate science as Al Gore does...

/Here's an idea...crazy, I know...maybe we should listen to what the actual climate scientists have to say.
//...but Al Gore already did that, and you treat him as a laughingstock...

Al Gore lost an election to Kennedy?

No, but you lost an argument of historical rankings of U.S. presidents to actual presidential scholars.

Kennedy is 11th.  Harding is 43rd (worst).  Bush is 34th.  Lincoln is 1st.  Obama is 14th.

So, thank you for your "HURRRRRR" infused with the appropriate amount of "DERRRRRRR".

Al Gore's motivations are pretty irrelevant to the fact that all of the science is on his side.

I still remember how the Gore family attacked people that played Dungeons and Dragons and listened to popular music back in the 90's. They called me evil. My grandma was the one that bought me a D&D game with a bunch of stuff she picked up at a garage sale. One Sunday, everyone in our church was cool with me. The next Sunday, I got a special talking to by the youth pastor and was branded with some sort of stigma I didn't understand at that age. My grandma took my game away from me, my youth pastors tried to take my MTG cards, and my mom wouldn't let me go to the music store with my friends. This is what I think of when I hear Al Gore in the news. Fark that guy.

It makes neither wrong nor right. It is only to say his motivations aren't as pure in heart as some people would have you believe. And, that always makes me scrutinize.
