You mean the, "Lets get people to pay us for the privilege of paying the taxes and maintenance on property we own" department.

Lie down with dogs, mortgage con artists.

Why employ people to sell mortgages when nobody can afford to buy a house?

Bummer... I bet a bunch of those will be from the Des Moines area.  We'd been pretty recession-proof until now.

fark Wells Fargo and the covered wagon they rode in on.

But the housing market is in recovery right?

/House just dropped 15% in the last year. Recovery my ass.
/On the plus side, it lowers my taxes.

Wells Fargo is the only bank I've been in where the sales pressure is at "used car lot" levels. No, I don't want to sign up for this, that, and the other thing. No, I don't want to sign up for a new credit card, a car loan, a home mortgage, etc. I just want a roll of quarters for the laundry.

So if high-pressure tactics are not working for them, all the better.

This has nothing to do with the housing market, it is because of the refi market.  Everyone who could refi and lock in the ultra low rates before they went up again did so.  Now that everyone who can, did, and now that rates have moved up (to a laughably low rate but still, up), the refi market is waning.

article mentions high interest rates.

Ok... rates are up to what they were 5ish years ago, but quotes are way up, at least here in WI

Probably another big hit for Charlotte too.

I dumped Wells Fargit after being there for 16 years for a local credit union. They charged me fees on the day I left and the banker asked me why I was leaving? I held up the receipts that he had just handed me for those same fees.

I can only hope they fired the employee who farked up my refinance on my existing Wells Faro loan. At least we benefited from her incompetence by deciding to look at local banks and getting a much better rate with lower closing costs and a fast closing.

^This^

The way they attempted to con....and then threaten....my parents into doing a refi that was not in my parents' best interest was truly astonishing.   They only stopped after I threatened to call a lawyer.  Why these people are not in front of a jury being addressed as "the defendants"  I have no idea.

So apparently you've never dealt with any other bank then?

/Wells is the least annoying of the lot
//accept for their credit card devision - they can go fark themselves

The only one that I've dealt with that's as bad is probably Chase, but they're just completely incompetent. Aside from them I've only dealt with local banks, which are absolutely nothing like Wells Fargo.

Wells Fargo? Fark them. Had a HELOC and a conforming mortgage with them. They drug their heels for 4+ months, repeatedly asking for the SAME documentation over and over, and screwed me out of a refi. I finally paid off the HELOC and they tried to insert all kinds of hurdles to paying it off (e.g. have to get a specific check made out, overnighted, signed paper indicating you wanted a payoff, etc...) causing delays and costing me more $ in interest. I refi'd with another company at 2.75% 15 year. So, fark Wells Fargo.

Have a few accounts with Wells Fargo. Never had any problems. I actually managed to have *no* fees on my accounts, whereas the local bank I was with before kept tacking them on and on...
