Ok, here is the short and skinny version of the story.I am a middle school science teacher and my wife has cancer. Currently she is undergoing chemo and is pretty much out of commission most of the time. She is beating it though. We have two kids under nine years old and quite frankly I am swamped. I don't even know how I am doing it now. School starts in a few days and I would like to try out a cool idea I learned in the summer from another science teacher - classroom money.

The idea is simple. Create some fake money and give students "classroom bucks" ( or whatever you want to call it) for an A on a test, homework completion etc... The dollars would be used at the end of the week to buy classroom supplies like pencil, erasers ,etc.

Since I teach science at the 7th and 8th grade level I want to create "Science Bucks" which will ideally resemble the old silver certificate art series the Bureau of Engraving and Printing was commissioned to create after Congress authorized the creation of a new series of silver certificates in 1886 - or something equally as beautiful. But it does not need to be these. I just think they are cooler in design than our current dollar bills.

The idea I have in my head is to use famous scientists for all the denominations up to $100. Each denomination would also incorporate what they are famous for. Example - Newton's bill would have his 3 laws of motion and law of universal gravitation incorporated in the design. Maybe even an apple falling in the background. Maybe even a few drawings etc... The more the better.

So here is where I beg. Any Photoshop wizards want to tackle one of these bills ( or all)? Only the front needs to be done. I will put a mini biography and some quotes on the back. I would be willing to pay about $10 per bill - sorry, but that is all I can afford now.

$1 = Einstein

$2 = Darwin

$5 = Hawking

$10 = Copernicus

$20 = Galileo

$50 = Tesla (because he rocks )

$100 = Newton ( maybe the smartest man to walk the planet)

Post this in TFD to get results.

This request would be more likely to get attention if it were posted to the PSAEF that is linked here.

I'm doubting that a monetary reward challenge will get greened, but this was a good effort to get someone to look at your request.

Sorry about the cancer thing, cancer sucks.

I'm pretty sure no one would take your money if they did make something

/my shop skills are pretty weak

2013-08-21 10:53:40 PM
Based on the samples of the more archaic designs you shared of the 'Art' type, I can see the obverse side being a relatively easy shop, however the front side would pose more of a challenge and require a more deft hand and skill set.

The more modern style that more closely resembles our paper money today would also be pretty easy. I'll give it a go on a couple tomorrow morning and post what I got.

/ditto on the money

And this has anything to do with your wife's cancer, how?

I'm interested. I will see what I can come up with tomorrow, and there would be no expectation of any payment.

Stuff like cancer can really take a lot of help from people around them.

Usually that means they don't have time to do frivolous things like Photoshopping, but sometimes, just sometimes there is the right Farker for the job.

It's a humanity thing

This. Anything with a contest tag (photoshop, caption, Farktography) automatically goes to the contest tab.

Simply because I am swamped. Taking wife to Dr., kids, to school, chemo treatments, unexpected hospital stays etc... I just don't have the time.

Thank you VERY much. I would pay you with this really cool spider drawing, but some jackhole stole it and sent it to a bank or something to pay a bill.

Zedster, thanks. If yours are the best ones then your artwork will be seen by at least 180 kids this year and maybe 1000's to come in the following years.

Everybody, thanks so much for your support on this.I does mean a lot.  Please don't hide any penises or pedo bears in the pictures. I had to say it because I know you guys. I have been a quazi-lurking Tfarker for the better part of a decade - I know you. I also know that your hearts are bigger than even the self-purported sizes of your penises. So that must be massive....except for a few of you.

So thank you and good night.

// I have an Ultrafark email if anybody wants to send a bigger pic.  justbob2000 at ultrafark i think. I set it up years ago to catch the crypozoological creature know as BIE. I am sure you have heard the urban legends too. Don't ask for them or you will get a box full of squirl nuts with Photoshoped gorilla nipples.

Since this doesn't seem to be an actual contest, I posted the PS at full resolution. If I need to drop it down to contest guidelines, let me know.

Be careful about print size.

The Counterfeit Detection Act of 1992, Public Law 102-550, in Section 411 of Title 31 of the Code of Federal Regulations, permits color illustrations of U.S. currency provided:

The illustration is of a size less than three-fourths or more than one and one-half, in linear dimension, of each part of the item illustrated

The illustration is one-sided

All negatives, plates, positives, digitized storage medium, graphic files, magnetic medium, optical storage devices, and any other thing used in the making of the illustration that contain an image of the illustration or any part thereof are destroyed and/or deleted or erased after their final use

That's awesome, although I think Einstein should be on the $50 or the $100 bill, personally.

It seems, according to Wikipedia, that they never made a Silver Certificate in $100 denomination, so here is a $100,000 Gold Certificate.

Of course, y'all don't feel like you don't have to re-do or improve some of the stuff I've done. Class names, school name, specific achievement of each scientist would be nice touches to give the Bucks a more notable tone wouldn't hurt.

Ditto to anybody that is paying attention and wants to improve upon my hack jobs in comparison to stuff like this one.
