New Yorkers who buy Florida swampland is a tale often told. (The outside looks like it's covered in water heater insulation. )

I'm glad that he had a right to build a castle on the swamp, and that I also have the right to subsidize his dumb ass when said castle falls over due to unstable footing in said swamp.

You laugh, but it IS Florida. Something reflective would probably cut AC bills by A LOT.

People's first reaction should not be why but how.  The article lacked this detail, so it sucked.

I guess that way he can list "aluminum siding" on the flyers when he tries to sell the place?

2013-08-21 09:16:13 PM
looks to be of a regular timber frame construction and is using Brick printed aluminum siding for the... siding.. the stuff usually used to cover the "foundation" of a mobile home to look like it is sitting on an actual stone foundation..

this is not to be confused with "ghetto brick" which is asphalt shingle siding molded to look like bricks..  this is Block siding...

yes, it is cheesy and kitch, and $100 a night, seems like it would be a fun place to spend the night if I'm down that Particular way.  They seem like nice people, and are living a happy dream.

There was another guy who bought up lots of Florida swampland and built a castle on it back in the 70's. Now it gets visited by 20 million people every year.

One good hurricane and apparently the entire structure of the house will be shredded considering it's made completely out of tinfoil.

Florida? Again? Why can't we just pass a mandate that the global coastline must be raised 4 inches? That would solve the problem of Miami immediately, along with most of the Fundies who vote there. We could just cite it as moar evidence of the Biblical flood, as they like to do. Meanwhile, there would be less FL congressmen (if your underwater, you get no reps) and FL voters in general would be marginalized, which can never be bad for America. Ever.

C'mon Odin, make it happen!
