spare the rod, spoil the child.

these little shiats have been raised in a Dr. Spock world because their parents never gave them any real punishment.

here is a bit from this article http://www.wnd.com/2009/01/87179/

In 1946, Dr. Benjamin Spock first published his infamous book "Common Sense Book of Baby and Child Care," which was unlike any that came before it. Instead of stressing the importance of teaching self-denial and respect for authority, Spock discouraged directive training and emphasized accommodating children's feelings and catering to their preferences. No longer did children learn they could endure Brussels sprouts and suffer through daily chores. Using Spock's approach, parents began to feed self-indulgence instead of instilling self-control - homes were becoming child-centered. As parents elevated children's "freedom of expression" and natural cravings, children became more outspoken, defiant and demanding of gratification. In fact, they came to view gratification as a right.

I have a friend who has more or less admitted that when he was young, he and his friends used to abuse cats.  He's tried to say it laughingly, but you can tell it's a kind of confession.  His joke is, "I'll probably burn in hell for that."  So he's had it on his conscience ever since.  He's the kind of guy who wouldn't hurt a fly now, although he's the biggest, scariest looking mofo you've ever seen.

This kid will either turn out to be a serial killer, or he also will one day realize what he's done and then carry guilt around.

Me, I still feel bad for shooting birds with a BB gun when I was a kid.  Shot one right through the eye.  Don't remember what it was but it was beautiful.  That's the strange thing about being a kid--I felt bad about it in a way, somehow knew that it felt wrong, and yet I kept shooting birds.  Then there came a time when I shot a blackbird, and I had to go pick it up in the yard and carry it to the trash.  Something clicked, and I never shot another bird again.

Yessirree, nothing's more likely to dispense reasonable child rearing advice than World Nut Daily.

Spock counteracted the really stupid child-care books of the early 20th century, which focused on rigid toilet-training and feeding schedules, and discouraged parents from showing physical affection to their kids. What he mainly did was advise parents to use their own best judgment, instead of listening to quacks.

Where did I say beating the shiat out of the kid? You got some locked up memories that are eating you up?

Real punishment consists of rules and consequences.

If the do something wrong you can punish by taking away their xbox, cell phone, make them clean the attic, etc.  Most parents just act like it is cute and give their kids a hug and a five minute time out.

I was whipped twice in my life.

1. Age six I set the carpet on fire at 2 am playing with matches.
2. Age 5 I ran across three lanes of traffic to get to the mall, and my grandmother spanked me inside the mall.

I was beaten but I damn sure learned to rethink all my brilliant ideas.

My father is still upset, at 82, he whipped me, but hey I almost burned the house down.

These kids are being raised without consequences.

I don't think bed wetting is considered an indicator of psychopathy any longer. Unless of course, one is wetting a bed which they stuffed with tortured kittens then set on fire.

You can put a notion in a kid's head without hitting him. I agree that kids seem less well-disciplined, but they don't seem to beat on or bully each other as much, either.

I am rereading Tom Sayer now. I didn't remember the part where Huck Finn and Tom were playing with a dead cat. (didn't say they killed him. Just played with the dead animal.)

I was shocked at that. Contemplating how far we have come as a society.

Today I RTFA, and read these comments. The more we change, the more we stay the same.

Humans are animals. With all the in-bred cruelty that implies. Nor am I excusing myself. I too would gladly hurt this person if I caught him in the act. At least I am a little different. I would put him down humanely.

Because every parent is reading Spock's book, and following is directions.

I have one parent who never showed even the slightest sign of affection to me the entire time I grew up, and another who showed constant affection.  I know who is responsible for molding the better parts of my responsibility, and who is responsible for molding the worse parts.  And "showing constant affection" doesn't mean "letting me run wild and do whatever the hell I want."  The opposite, in fact.  She was the one who would show disappointment when I did something wrong, and that carried weight.  Dad never showed anything. I could have tortured cats all day long and he wouldn't have cared.  So long as I wasn't interfering with the TV.

So yeah, it's all Spock's fault.

Portrait of a future serial killer. I find that people of this sort who have no regard for the life of animals often lack the ability to form meaningful bonds with people as well. I'm not one of those animal rights activists, but really, kill kittens out of boredom and then take pictures of yourself playing with the dead kittens? That is sick beyond any measure, I wish he could be executed for that, he is a worthless waste of air.

All it took was one generation to follow it... then it was passed on generation to generation more and more extreme each iteration... you knew that though.

So, you had one parent at one extreme and one parent at the other... so all households were that way. Sorry but no. Even if that premise held weight, the mother's traditional role has always been the sensative one and the father was the one you didn't want to piss off. In nature, it's called balance. All sugar and no sour is cloyingly sweet... All sour and no sugar is just as terrible. If a balance is struck, you have a happy medium.

So yeah, it's all Spock's fault.

I saw it was a Chicago Tribune article, and thought, oh no, this news is probably coming out of Indiana.  Never mind that Cook and its surrounding counties have 7.5 million people while Indiana only has 6.5 million.  Never mind that Chicago media believes that the world ends at the state line.  Never mind the weirdness emanating from Wisconsin.

It was Indiana.  East Chicago, to be precise.  Granted, East Chicago is the heart of Da Region, a part of the state that identifies more closely with Chicago than Indianapolis, but it's still Indiana.  (You can tell by the gun laws.)
  So...

Good for him.  Feral cats (aka kittens in back alleys) are a invasive scourge of nature far worse than pythons in the everglades and should be destroyed.  They kill over 1 billion native songbirds each year in the US alone, not to mention innumerable native rodents, reptiles, and amphibians.

Three down, millions to go.

I can't speak for the city where he lives, but around here there are no leash laws for cats so they're allowed to roam free, even if they're feral. The only time they'll come out to pick one up is if it's dead or hurt. I could never bring myself to kill them like that, but I won't lose any sleep over someone else doing it.

If you damn cat lovers feel so strongly about it, get your asses out there and collect up a hundred strays and give them a home, I'm sure there are plenty to be had in and around your town/city.

But hey, they all have excuses, I was bored, I was picked on, daddy doesn't love me.

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah -> Cry me a river

My dad nearly killed me, hasn't made me want to (nearly) kill him
my perfect revenge is that I'm an only child and guess who gets to pick out the nursing home
  Muahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Bored teen killing things trifecta in play.  Sadly.

/ladies, take a page from the ancient Greeks and David Brin
//if your male children take delight in hurting, torturing, and killing animals, kill them in their sleep
///before they start raping and killing humans

I believe it is legal in Wisconsin.

snailbarf: Calmamity: End him.

hey you guys have something in common! you both like to kill things.

Except the kittens have more of a soul than the kid will ever have. I also have no problem with "End him". He shows all the signs of a psychopath.

James10952001: Portrait of a future serial killer.

Richard "The Iceman" Kuklinski said he would capture kittens and throw them into the boiler and watch them die through the glass when he was a boy.  So, you do have a point.

Yes, of course. Everyone knows that beating the shiat out of your child will make them a well-adjusted, non-violent adult.

worked for centuries before pussies like spock

It's obvious who the pussy is.

I've shot dozens of ditch cougars with bow and BB gun both. Damn crazy cat lady across the street feeds strays, herd constantly needs thinning. Sounds like this kid did it for "fun" instead.

Did anyone think of Steve-arino from American Dad (not posting pic even though it's a cartoon, just in case)? Steve's clone who received all his parenting from Stan (super-strict) and his brain eventually snapped and went crazy.

I volunteer to do something about this shiatbag. I'm looking to learn more about using a bow and arrows, so my aim will need time to improve, but I'm sure I'll do it in eventually.

/So glad to see it is being charged with two felonies
//I'll be happy when it's the death penalty

Cats in an alley = domestic!?

Did the cats have a collar?

Feral cats are NOT domestic cats.  Feral cats are animals that crossed the line into invasive predator species.

RoLleRKoaSTeR: Cats in an alley = domestic!?

Having to remove a nuisance  =  killing animals because your bored?!

Feral cats exist, and yea they need to be removed.

But shooting any animal "because you're bored" and taking pictures of said animal and putting them on facebook is inexcusable.

Well that settles that then. Nothing to see here, move along.

Bow hunting deer = OK
Bow hunting feral cats = KILL HIM!

Know what else tortures and kills animals smaller than it, for fun? Cats...

2013-08-21 11:03:46 PM

the biggest redneck here: I've shot dozens of ditch cougars with bow and BB gun both. Damn crazy cat lady across the street feeds strays, herd constantly needs thinning. Sounds like this kid did it for "fun" instead.

And that's that's the difference.

Killing animals because its an ugly but necessary job (for whatever reason; over population, putting food on the table) is way different- even when you enjoy the hunting itself-- than killing kittens for funsies.

One makes you a hunter or a farmer and the other make you someone I would happily chuck out the airlock.

So,

Just to get this straight.  Shooting deer, elk, birds, etc. for fun is OK.  Shooting cats for fun makes you a "psycho".

Do we have a handy chart to show what animals sane people shoot for fun and which animals mentally ill people shoot for fun?

2013-08-22 12:18:16 AM
Sick farks like this guy and the "bored" kids who killed that Australian guy recently should go away forever. Either a slave labor camp with no chance of getting free, or executed. Either is fine.

1) Pretty sure there are laws against hunting in the middle of town.

2) He posted pics of him playing with the corpses.

He deserves a psych eval if nothing else.

What he did was wrong but I remember a lot of farked up stuff other boys did when we were that age.  If his parents can't get through to him then maybe someone else can.  Putting him into the system with a felony at that age is less humane than just killing him now.

We are supposed to be so humane these days but what that really means is we are squeamish and don't wan't to see the bad stuff in human nature or the real results of the punishments we dole out.  If as a society we want to make this kind of thing  permanent life altering events that can't be recovered from then we should make it a capital crime as well.  Is a lifetime of unemployment while moving in and out of the system humane or even in the best interest of society?

To a lesser extent I can make the same argument about sex offender lists.  If society needs to do that to person forever then it should have the courage to just kill them and put them out of their misery.

2013-08-22 03:42:40 AM
When murder is blatantly obvious like killing for fun, those people need to be executed. Clean up society.
If there were swift and serious accountability for killing, people might give a thought about not doing it.

And there should be a parent remedy law. One of such that says- "Your kid has a record and history of violent behavior. You have the right to release society of the burden of your kid. Please make it as painless as possible. Well even buy you the bullet or poison."

Just do it before your kid does it to you.

No, but he didn't say anything about beating a kid as a form of "real punishment" either. Some kids live with parents who try to never tell them "No" because they read it was bad in a book.

And honestly, I think there's a world of difference between a swat on the bottom and "beating the shiat out of your child".

Ugh. I'm not normally one to advocate the death penalty, but in this case, "The Most Dangerous Game" comes to mind. For some reason.

Game ranches are awful. No matter where they are.

HindiDiscoMonster: mbillips: ...
Spock counteracted the really stupid child-care books of the early 20th century, which focused on rigid toilet-training and feeding schedules, and discouraged parents from showing physical affection to their kids. What he mainly did was advise parents to use their own best judgment, instead of listening to quacks.

yeah... it's turned out soo well today.

Well, there haven't been any World Wars since; so he's got that going for him...
