HindiDiscoMonster: mbillips: theflatline: spare the rod, spoil the child.these little shiats have been raised in a Dr. Spock world because their parents never gave them any real punishment.here is a bit from this article http://www.wnd.com/2009/01/87179/In 1946, Dr. Benjamin Spock first published his infamous book "Common Sense Book of Baby and Child Care," which was unlike any that came before it. Instead of stressing the importance of teaching self-denial and respect for authority, Spock discouraged directive training and emphasized accommodating children's feelings and catering to their preferences. No longer did children learn they could endure Brussels sprouts and suffer through daily chores. Using Spock's approach, parents began to feed self-indulgence instead of instilling self-control - homes were becoming child-centered. As parents elevated children's "freedom of expression" and natural cravings, children became more outspoken, defiant and demanding of gratification. In fact, they came to view gratification as a right.Yessirree, nothing's more likely to dispense reasonable child rearing advice than World Nut Daily.Spock counteracted the really stupid child-care books of the early 20th century, which focused on rigid toilet-training and feeding schedules, and discouraged parents from showing physical affection to their kids. What he mainly did was advise parents to use their own best judgment, instead of listening to quacks.yeah... it's turned out soo well today.
MechaPyx: Calmamity: End him.A little quality time in a cage with a lion will fix him right up.
doglover: Kill him.Take some rope, make a noose, hang him dead, bury under "John Doe"
Calmamity: End him.
Bermuda59: At least he's not a bored teen in Oklahoma, then he's be shooting baseball players
flamingboar: thought: kill him immediately.2nd thought: go to the local shelter and hug all the kittens.
Molavian: Damn, don't anyone who grew up on a farm post in this thread what happens to extra cats.
James10952001: I wish he could be executed for that, he is a worthless waste of air.
scottydoesntknow: snailbarf: Calmamity: End him.hey you guys have something in common! you both like to kill things. To be fair though, one is a remorseless killing machine with no regard or compassion for the sanctity of life. The other is some psychotic brat.
saturn badger: Molavian: Damn, don't anyone who grew up on a farm post in this thread what happens to extra cats.Do they kill them out of boredom? Didn't think so.
HindiDiscoMonster: Kibbler: Because every parent is reading Spock's book, and following is directions. All it took was one generation to follow it... then it was passed on generation to generation more and more extreme each iteration... you knew that though.I have one parent who never showed even the slightest sign of affection to me the entire time I grew up, and another who showed constant affection. I know who is responsible for molding the better parts of my responsibility, and who is responsible for molding the worse parts. And "showing constant affection" doesn't mean "letting me run wild and do whatever the hell I want." The opposite, in fact. She was the one who would show disappointment when I did something wrong, and that carried weight. Dad never showed anything. I could have tortured cats all day long and he wouldn't have cared. So long as I wasn't interfering with the TV.So, you had one parent at one extreme and one parent at the other... so all households were that way. Sorry but no. Even if that premise held weight, the mother's traditional role has always been the sensative one and the father was the one you didn't want to piss off. In nature, it's called balance. All sugar and no sour is cloyingly sweet... All sour and no sugar is just as terrible. If a balance is struck, you have a happy medium. So yeah, it's all Spock's fault.yup... you got that right at least.
snailbarf: Calmamity: End him.hey you guys have something in common! you both like to kill things.
James10952001: Portrait of a future serial killer. I find that people of this sort who have no regard for the life of animals often lack the ability to form meaningful bonds with people as well. I'm not one of those animal rights activists, but really, kill kittens out of boredom and then take pictures of yourself playing with the dead kittens? That is sick beyond any measure, I wish he could be executed for that, he is a worthless waste of air.
