tlchwi02: 89 is probably too old to be doing this sort of cruise. Picking one that only stops in large cities with guaranteed medical servces available is the much smarter choices. I hate to sound callous, but this sort of attitude (what, there isn't a hospital and a medivac available in a relatively remote port city in turkey and it was MY job to plan for that?!?!) seems to be common in the older america tourist crowd, and especially on the type of person who books on a cruise ship.
