John Bobbitt may have done it "better," but Jake Owen knows how to tease with just the tip...

I had never heard of him before, but I saw him perform at the Houston Rodeo this year (I wanted to take the kids to see the Rodeo and tickets were cheap).  It was one of the best performances I had ever seen.  Very engaging performer.

Of the modern country singers he's not one of the bad ones.

I went to the show where he "played" after his amputation.  He was beyond awful, constantly stopping mid-song, all "OW!".  In the middle of the song.  He would miss chords, "UGH, it hurts, sorry!" and then start right back up again like it didn't happen.  I started to "BOO!"  loudly.  He heard me, he must have.  No one else was booing, I don't get that.  When someone is bad I let them boos rain down.  Some people don't get it, they say he was trying after getting his finger amputated and I should cheer him on.  No.  He was bad, so out they come.  My wife won't let me go to my kid's soccer game, or even practice with him any more.  How's he going to get any better if he doesn't practice with me because I'm really good at soccer.  Most things really for that matter.

Who says "country western" in 2013?

2013-08-21 12:49:07 PM
Kind of throwing the term 'star' around pretty loosely these days

His ring finger? There are a lot of guitarists that are still great with even less. Good luck to him in his recovery.

If he plays a song backward will he get his finger back?

If a country western star amputated my finger, I'd expect a hell of a lot more than a free concert.

so, everyone posting pics of talented less-than-fully-ten-figured guitarists...you DO realize they weren't all playing THE DAY THEIR FINGERS GOT CHOPPED, don't you?

good on jake for his "the show must go on" attitude.
