Actually you don't.  You just need a highly partisan house and senate.

Also, in spite of repeated GOP attempts to compromise with him on the issue, Obama absolutely refuses to stop being black.  I think those two facts are more than enough to impeach.

FTA:  "you're going to become a laughing stock if you've submitted the bill to impeach the president because number one, you've got to convince the press."

Having carefully examined the Constitution and the record of every attempt at impeaching a President, I have yet to discovery the role that the press served in the process. Clearly I must be missing something, as this learned gentleman has stated that convincing the news media was the first step in the process.

Aar1012: High Crimes and Misdemeanors used to mean something

I know you're going for the meme here, but in fact it never did.  The history of the impeachment power against the President has always (with a single exception) been, for all practical purposes, used as a legislative recall process rather than an attempt to punish actual crimes.  Which is not to say that no President besides Nixon was ever  actually guilty of something a reasonable person would define as "high crimes and misdemeanors", but since they generally enjoyed at least the implicit support (if not actual complicity) of at least a third of the Senate in said acts, they've generally gotten away with it.

You know, I think there are a few things that could be grounds of impeachment, like (probably) ordering the assassination of a 16-year-old American citizen, Abdulrahman, in Yemen. I'm not saying he should necessarily be removed from office, but I think Congress appointing someone to see if that complied with the law and if impeachment hearings shouldn't be brought isn't out of the question.

But idiots like this guy cheerlead any killing of brown people with funny names, so that's out of the question.

Sudo_Make_Me_A_Sandwich: (probably) ordering the assassination of a 16-year-old American citizen, Abdulrahman, in Yemen.

No, he was killed in a strike intended for Ibrahim al-Banna.  Republicans call this "collateral damage" when it happens under Republican presidents.

Specifically the evidence is needed so that they aren't even bigger laughingstocks than they currently are.

I don't really think it left a black mark on Clinton's legacy.  Everyone knows it was trumped up bullshiat, and it really goes down in history as the point at which republicans became more concerned with hurting democrats than doing anything themselves.

2013-08-21 12:33:22 PM
Jebus cripes. I have problems with some of Obama's views and policies too, but these guys are farking certifiable.

2013-08-21 12:34:41 PM

elchip: No, he was killed in a strike intended for Ibrahim al-Banna.

They (almost certainly) knew that he was going to be killed when he dropped the bomb, and they justified killing him because his father was "irresponsible." I guess you could argue that attempting to kill al-Banna justified murdering Abdulrahman to get to him, but I don't think that's a decision the President should get to make with no oversight.

2013-08-21 12:46:19 PM
Obama's aides should be subtly encouraging him to do it. Some professional concern trolling about how they're worried that Senate Dems who "know the truth" would vote to convict.

2013-08-21 12:49:12 PM
FTFA: Answering a question from an attendee about what Congress is doing to stop Obama "from everything he's doing against our Constitution," Bentivolio said...

"I went to my office and I've had lawyers come in," Bentivolio continued. "These are lawyers, PhDs in history and I said 'tell me how I can impeach the President of the United States." But they advised him that he would first need some evidence.

So, which is it?  If Barry Hitler Satan Fartbama (or whatever they're calling him these days) is actually guilty of "everything he's doing against our Constitution", presumably evidence would be readily available.

2013-08-21 12:58:10 PM

wxboy: Sadly, this man represents the district in which my parents and siblings live, and they probably all voted for him, and will do so again.

I love seeing guys like this put on the spot by their constituents, asking what he's going to do about Obama. Like their one representative from their little district can bring down the President. But a lot of the people that elected him are myopic enough to believe that he could, and they're frustrated that he hasn't yet; it's what they elected him for, whether he promised it or not. Tea Party support means expectations with little grounding in reality, and when you don't meet those unrealistic expectations, you're accused of compromise, bipartisanship and cooperation with the administration, and replaced with the next guy with the right rhetoric.

2013-08-21 12:59:12 PM

Jairzinho: evidence? for what charge?

Oh, I don't know, a little thing called Benghazi?  The absolute worst scandal that has ever happened ever? Or maybe IRS-gate?  You know, where Obama forced Tea Party groups to pay millions of dollars in taxes, bankrupting billions of hard working people.  Maybe you heard about the time he sent his dog on a first class flight, all expenses paid with the money that a small town was saving up for a 4th of July celebration.

The man literally wakes up every morning, shiats on the Constitution and wipes his ass with the Declaration of Independence.

History has never seen a monster this evil.
