This is good advice and just can't be repeated often enough.  The desert can swallow all kinds of "problems".

(From Lawrence of Arabia)
Jackson Bentley: What is it, Major Lawrence, that attracts you personally to the desert?
T.E. Lawrence: It's clean.

Yeah, because people who have the free time to patrol the desert are absolutely not on welfare or government assistance of any kind. Nope.

Drug dealers are working people.  I hold them a little higher than welfare recipients.  Smuggling drugs across an international border is the sort of dangerous, dirty, hard work we should all respect.

As far as 9/11 goes, that was on W's watch and we have had no foreigners attack us on home soil since then.

Maybe, just maybe, these fine patrolman had a little business on the side?

If a cop is outside of his jurisdiction and doing something he shouldn't be doing when you shoot him, is it still considered to be shooting a cop?

I don't think the "it's a free country" defense is valid after like the 3rd grade.

Almost Everybody Poops: As much as I despise Arpaio, I agree with him in this case. People trying to "play cop" can lead to very bad outcomes.

If his deputies when outside of their jurisdiction when they were "impersonating drug smugglers", then they were "playing cop" too.  Assuming they weren't actually smuggling drugs, that is.

2013-08-21 10:47:00 AM
"If they continue this there could be some dead militia out there," Arpaio said.

Yeah Joe, a bunch of us have been saying this for Y-E-A-R-S, yet you did nothing(Kind of like Danny's Family Car Wash and its illegal immigrant workforce), I guess now that your buddy JT Ready isn't wandering around the desert you suddenly "care"? I can guarantee you that this isn't the first run-in people have had, why the sudden concern?

2013-08-21 10:47:26 AM
Maricopa County is not a border county. Since it is not a border county, they cannot see an illegal border crossing happen when they are in Maricopa County. Given that information, I have to question what these farksticks' game plan is. Brandish their weapons at any one who might be Mexican?

The deputies plan was equally stupid. Drive out to the desert and honk the horn of a truck loaded with guys "clearly marked with sheriff's patches"? Genius plan, guys. Keep at it, I'm sure one day you'll find someone besides old guys playing vigilante dress-up dumb enough to fall enough for that.

If you mean by other LEO's, you best believe YES is the correct answer.

Sock Ruh Tease: Mexican Man Arrested For Mass Murder
Police Officers, Minutemen Found Dead Near Border

PHOENIX - A Mexican man claims he did not murder anyone after he was arrested for being spotted near over two dozen bodies near the Arizona-Mexico border, authorities say.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio said that the man was crossing into the country illegally and had killed about 30 police officers and minutemen, whose bodies were found in separate groups in a portion of the barren lands between Arizona and Mexico. Shell casings, empty clips, Glocks, and AK-47s riddled the area around the corpses, suggesting that "the Mexican man had gotten into a firefight with the two groups, who were obviously working together to catch this madman," Arpaio said.

Forensic ballistics reports were "lost, and we are trying to recover them," Arpaio said.

The Mexican man had only this to say: "Me llamo Nestor de la Cruz. Tengo mi ciudadanía el año pasado. No he matado a nadie. Acabo de ver los cadáveres y traté de informar a la policía lo más rápido posible," which according to a Maricopa County Sheriff Department-supplied translator means "I used to assassinate politicians for drug cartels, so 30 gringos with guns was easy work for me." Arpaio says that the man will be dealt with appropriately. "I've got a prison tent with Jose Lopez written all over it," he said before dismissing the press conference. "There is much work to be done now, if you'll excuse me."

A representative of the Arizona Minutemen for Border Protection said to us anonymously that they will also be doing all they can to keep Mexicans from killing them in the future, and warned against Mexicans dressed as police officers in order to get through the border and into America. "Those Mexicans are sneaky. It is their nature," he told us. "We are just trying to protect the country and the jobs from these smelly, sleazy [not-racist term involving the moistness of the opposite of a front]. It's not about race, it's about safety."

So, what you're saying is that a bunch of ill-trained clowns with Tapco'd SKSs and Bushmaster AR-15s would get killed when fighting someone who knows what they're doing?

Would the DNC have worked any differently?

It's not like westerners, Jews, or gays are exactly popular with the Ackbar set. I've noticed very few planes have been crashed into red states.

The difference being, if you pulled that stunt at the DNC, you would probably be shot by security.  Pull it at the RNC, and you will have a lot of poorly trained but armed people in the middle of a crowd shooting and hitting other people in the crowd.

Malley claimed "he had the right to point his rifle at the individual because he had reasonable suspicion to believe a crime was occurring," according to the probable cause statement.

No, you don't have the right. You are a civilian, not a law enforcement. You do NOT have the right to point a rifle at anyone unless you are under the threat of bodily harm. If the cops tell you that they are the cops, you better drop your gun right that second.

It's called "Citizens arrest."  It is a commonlaw right that has been narrowed by statute.  It depends on the state you are in.

Took me two seconds to google this.
A private person may make an arrest:

1. When the person to be arrested has in his presence committed a misdemeanor amounting to a breach of the peace, or a felony.

2. When a felony has been in fact committed and he has reasonable ground to believe that the person to be arrested has committed it.

Now, as to the amount of force you can use to effect the arrest, and the definition of all those terms, you're going to have to do legal research into the cases in Arizona.

For me it's not hatred, it's apathy.  If these assholes wanna go out in the desert and shoot each other, I don't care.

there's a chance that somebody, somewhere might learn a lesson from it. and if they don't, well it's border patrolling, SWAT wannabes who are all there of there own free will... so we won't have lost much

Since the deputies committed no crime by flashing their headlights and honking the horn, neither of those two conditions was satisfied.

No, it isn't, Neither is Pinal County, but apparently there is a pretty big corridor right through the area where the people funnel through. Normally, Joe is more interested in getting good press than actually enforcing the law, but that desert is some seriously empty land, and they just have to walk right up to I-8 right there, so the trucks pull over, they get in and leave. It makes sense to have stepped up enforcement out there. Nothing else the Withered old Fool does makes sense, but that one does.
