Creme doesn't scale linearly.  If I can invent a substance, I can invent it's properties.

This is the most blatant case of fraudulent advertising since the suit against the film "The Never-EndingStory".

2013-08-20 02:36:04 PM
That's why they spelled it "stuf" instead of "stuffed".

IIRC, there used to be more "creme" in Double-Stuf oreos.  I distinctly recall noticing one day that the Double-Stufs were slightly thinner.  About 1993 or 1994, I think.

Also, the "creme" was noticeably off-center in a higher proportion of oreos starting in about 1994. Make of that what you will.

I farming knew it! They all called me crazy when I ran into the store naked with a box of double stuff oreos screaming "This is not double stuffed!"

Hah, who's crazy now?

Exactly the same time as Newt Gingrich's Contract With America and the Brady Law and the Church of England ordaining its first-ever women priests.  But I'm sure that's all just a coincidence, right, Oreopologists? *rolleyes*

I also remember Double-Stuffs having more filling. Food companies have been doing this for a long time: making soup cans smaller, cereal boxes thinner and figuring we won't notice.

My claim to fame is having programmed the machine that puts the stuff in the Oreos (or at least the one that does it in Richmond, VA there are others).

It was a while ago, but I remember it being kind of a biatch.  All the pipes had to be heat traced, and god help you if let that shiat set up, but you couldn't get it too hot either because it would run out all over the base cakes.

Cold Oreo right off the chiller are fantastic, even better than the warm Chip Ahoy.  That job is a good portion of the reason why I am fat.

These are things that should be sold!  Hershey's does it.  You can special order Hersheys and Reese's peanut butter cups that are shipped to your door the day they are made.  They taste noticeably better than what you can buy in the store.

No no no, you've got it all wrong. It's the regular oreos that actually have 1.075 times the standard amount of stuf (sort of a baker's dozen kind of deal).

FTFA: "And Mega Stuf Oreos have only 2.86 times the creme in a regular Oreo. The prefix 'mega' literally means a factor of one million, which, granted, is impossible to translate to an Oreo. Still, perhaps another name could have sufficed."

Where can I get these Mega Stuf Oreos?  I don't care about the amount of crème, I just want MORE than a supposed double stuf.

1. Someone should sue to actually put back creme in the oreos, or update their labeling of the "creme". Isn't it just sugary crisco? I'm sure it tastes just fine due to the sugar, but I can't bring myself to eat Oreos anymore. I'm an ice cream kinda guy anyhow.

2. Subway just farking sucks.  The bread falls apart and in general is one of the worst breads I've ever eaten.  Subway completely skimps on the meats.  I'd rather pay about the same price at a deli and have my sammich loaded with meat and veggies.

I have no idea what it is now (yes, it was sugar and margarine), but around the same time as the trans-fat-ban craze started the quality of Oreo creme dropped. It's almost like a firm goo now and doesn't have an appealing taste.
