Maybe this time, they will cell him up with a few 250lb oversexed black or Hispanic men for a couple months.

Dwyer, a Republican from Pasadena, was charged with drunken boating in August after his 27-foot powerboat collided with another boat on the Magothy River. The incident left a 5-year-old girl with a fractured skull.

In an interview with the Capital Gazette, Dwyer, who insists he is not to blame for the accident, said his drinking increased over two events: his November 2011 separation from his wife of 31 years and he felt "betrayed" by colleagues who voted for marriage equality.

A person who drinks only two beers before driving somewhere can only be headed to the store to buy more beer.

Came here to say this.  If an officer asks, "Have you been drinking this evening?"  the only acceptable answer is, "No, officer."  Unless you want to get popped, in which case you say, "I had 2 beers."

And - I thought subby was exaggerating about the gay marriage thing, but damned if he wasn't telling the truth.  The guy actually said, the passage of gay marriage in the legislature led him to get blotto and take out his 27-ft boat.  Which he crashed into another boat and badly hurt a kid.

What a maroon.

Get a BWI (they call it that with boats, right?), put a child in critical condition, then go out drinking so much that you're slurring your words and still decide to hop in the driver's seat?  This guy needs treatment because he is a full-blown alcoholic.  He clearly has no control over his drinking.

Don't get me wrong, this guy also needs to feel the sting of the personal-injury lawsuit coming his way, as well as prosecution for his crimes.

It was probably gay marriage that ruined the sanctity of his marriage, causing his wife to leave him in the first place. That kind of makes the gays doubly responsible, if you think about it.

It's almost like local news sources often leave off the party identity of local politicians because most of their audience already knows that information. Why, if I didn't know any better, I'd say there wasn't any conspiracy to leave off party identities to protect one party or the other at all.

As a person who generally leans more republican than democrat, this guy and all the farking theocratic assholes should be tossed out of the GOP. The party is supposed to be more about getting government OUT of our business. Both parties cater to their corporate masters, which is bad enough, too. I'm guessing his wife divorced him after catching him in bed with another man.

According to WTOP, a GOP bigwig (state chairman? House Minority Leader?) is calling for him to resign. Mostly because his addiction is an actual danger to himself and others (I think those were the actual words used).

Sadly, you're no longer representative of the Republican party. I flirted with the GOP during the 90s, but then I realized their policies never match their rhetoric.

Well it seems that he doesn't have much longer. His sentencing for the boating DUI is in October, and he had already turned down a plea deal because it involved jailtime, and now with this DUI I don't see that sentencing ending with anything but jailtime.
