Chach: Should be interesting seeing the Farkers who are head over heels in love with abortion try to keep a straight face while talking about how this imperfect human being is entitled to his dignity.

Hey, kiddo. Stop going on your mommy or daddy's Fark handle. You are too young and too immature to be on here without parental supervision.

I read the letter, and I find it pretty ridiculous. The only thing I'm wondering is, if this had happened in the U.S.A., what the actual crime would be? It says the police are investigating the threat. What threat? I didn't see a threat in the letter. I just saw someone venting her/his frustration at the mother. I'd be perfectly happy with the police finding out who sent it so they can out them for the appropriate public shaming, but I can't imaging any reasonable criminal charges.

Once the person is outed, then the set up comes for criminal charges. Beyond the initial letter, anything else could be possibly classified as harassment. The thing is, at least in this country, we are supposed to respect each others' right to express their opinions no matter how much we may disagree with them. The idea behind that being that there are likely many people who find our own opinions offensive.

blatz514: Vamose?

Who uses that word anymore? I'm guessing the letter writer is some old codger that hasn't been laid in years and ran off all their friends with their hateful attitude.

Vamose?
Caught my eye as well. I don't think I've ever seen that word used outside of a Yosemite Sam cartoon.
That said, as evil and vile as that letter is, I don't see a threat.

No.  Not unless you're into eugenics.

This was in Canada.  So if you meant the US part of America, you're off.  If you meant all of the Americas... yeah, I doubt you meant that.

That's exactly what I meant, kind sir!

There is no a-hole threshold.

There's only the singularity. Haven't you people read any Stephen Hawkins on the theory of a-holes? The only question is whether the singularity is a mathematical point or a sort of curve like the tip of a crayon or a dull pencil.

thismomentinblackhistory: What kind of sounds is he possibly making?

Been around a few autistic people in my time.  Wife works in special education, and our oldest kid is very high functioning Aspergers.

A lot of the more moderate to severely autistic kids vocalize when they're happy and having fun.  It sounds kind of like a zombie moan, only louder.  It's not what you would naturally associate with happiness, but their brains are so overstimulated, it's the only sound they can render at the time.

2013-08-20 01:51:15 PM

Tomass the Second: The mom wrote the letter, going for the coveted attention whore/shock value/fame angle.

Yep.

I notice that she doesn't deny the facts alleged in the letter.  Not saying it wasn't offensive, especially the euthanasia bits, but does that make it untrue as well?  Also, isn't it true that, in certain cultures in the past, persons such as this boy is described as being, would essentially be left out in the wild alone for the gods to deal with.  A recognition of the burden such a person places on the community as a whole, which is also reflected in this letter.  Of course, the perpetrator will be dug up, ostracised, branded for life, refused entry to schools and employment, and unfriended.  If s/he tries to run away, change her/his identity and start anew, the press will expend massive efforts to unmask the fiend.  Quite frankly, a common, everyday rapist will be better treated than this poor miscreant.

2013-08-20 01:51:17 PM
I for one am with the letter writer.  There is no excuse to be whaling, loudly or not, in this day and age.  Just because the Japanese still get away with it doesn't mean we need to turn a blind eye because this kid has a disabililty.

2013-08-20 01:52:08 PM
Call me old fashioned, but were I a parent (or grandparent), receiving an anonymous hatemail urging me to kill my child/grandchild, I'd feel a bit... what's the word? Victimized. It's one thing to have some obvious jerk walk by and yell for me to get my weirdo kid outta here, it's another to see it in a letter with intimations that the child should be dead. See? See where one is a simple jerk's ejaculation, and the other is premeditated harrassment?

I bet the letter writer parks their car in handicap spaces while handicap people make handicap faces.

Warlordtrooper: I hope somebody outs this idiot.

Yes how dare she say what we're all thinking.

"Oh ... that's so *twitch* sad, your child shiats himself (why is he looking at me?) all the time and (STOP TOUCHING ME!) (oh god don't try to pet my dog) has no idea what's happening around him (or how farking irritating he is all the god damn time)."

Nobody wants to be around your retard babies.

Nobody.

No, the 98% of your neighbors who sympathize don't like you or your kid.  They've had too much Christmas and Family Reunions.  They've learned the Great American Art of Insincerity, of pretending to like things they want to get as far farking away from as they can.

That includes your little genetic fark-up child.

And as soon as you open your mouth and say what they're all thinking, they'll all attack you for being the hero of the group.

2013-08-20 01:54:44 PM
Just to play devil's advocate for a minute;  if the child is actively being disruptive, it shouldn't matter that they're disabled.  Having to care for an individual isn't a free pass to allow obviously socially unacceptable behavior or special treatment.  This goes equally for mentally disabled individuals, small children, or to stretch it a bit, co-workers who have kids and want to leave early and take extra vacation days.

So, if the kid was screaming so loudly, so often that it upset an individual to this extent, it's likely that the  mother both knew about it, and did nothing about it, and not just once, but many instances over a period of time.  Like the people who bring their screaming kid to the restaurant or movie theater and then won't leave when asked.

Of course, the writer of the letter appears to be a complete asshole.  Perhaps they're overreacting.  It's one thing to ask someone to take care of a screaming child, it's another to descend to that level.  I still wonder if it'll turn out to be the mother who wrote the letter to herself.

Hankie Fest: I'm not arguing the douchery of the letter.
But why is being offended the END OF THE FARKING WORLD?  So what?

You can be offended all you want.

Writing a poorly constructed letter biatching about it and anonymously leaving it for someone who does not/is not doing what YOU WANT THEM TO DO is what is being brought up here.

That's being a douchebag of the highest degree, and is wholly unnecessary. Especially when what you are biatching about is not anyone's fault.

2013-08-20 01:57:53 PM
Other than the part about donating his body to science, it really isn't that bad of a letter. Sounds to me like this mother is just sticking her kid in the yard to yell and holler all day and her neighbor is getting sick of putting up with the noise. The problem is that in this day and age of political correctness we're not allowed to complain about things like this anymore. If it was a normal kid running around raising hell, neighbors would be well within their right to complain about it, but make the kid handicapped and all of a sudden everyone is just supposed to accept the disruption in their lives.

Why can't the parents move someplace further out in the country where the kid wont be disturbing everyone around them? Is it really asking to much for parents of handicapped kids to have some consideration for others?

2013-08-20 01:57:54 PM
What I would have done:  Received letter, gotten upset, thrown letter away.  Hugged child.  Then make sure that my child is behaving acceptably, then go on with my life.  No calling the news, or the cops.

DubtodaIll: This doesn't come close to the a-hole threshold.  Stress is a biatch and makes you do biatchy things.  Put the kid in a soundproof kid-sized hamster ball and be done with it.

What an a$$hole thing to say. As a parent of two children I will have you know that after reading "Put the kid in a soundproof kid-sized hamster ball", I have spent the last 2 hours scouring the internet in search of soundproof kid-sized hamster balls. They don't make them. I couldn't even find anywhere to have one custom made. I found something very similar that is inflatable, but does not offer soundproofing. Not good enough. Thanks for getting my hopes up jerk!

I'm not sure if it makes me a pessimist to think someone could be so awful as to write such a letter as a scam, or an optimist to think that's more likely than someone else in the neighborhood being such a complete douche as to write that letter to the mother of an autistic child.

But it being a fake letter feels more likely than not.

In canada, anything that expresses an opinion about how you don't like some class of people in general is restricted hate speech and liable for criminal damages.

If you say negros are inclined to criminal intent and living near them is just begging to get robbed or have drug dealers selling meth to your children, you'll be hauled into court for hate speech and put in jail.
