I didn't understand why they weren't putting anything into the last column on the board then I realized the flashes I was seeing were straight lines being dropped in & disappearing while I was blinking. Holy shiat.

Also, just because, here's a great - legitimate - rap song using the Tetris theme song in the background by Extended F@mm. It gets progressively faster and is just glorious. Called Line Drop.

Few years back, I was listening to NPR with an interview with the director. The director said he had to go over the footage carefully to make Billy come off as likable as he possible could. Director claimed Billy was a dick of the highest magnitude.

The TwinGalaxies crowd wouldn't play any version of Tetris with hard drop in it because it wouldn't be retro anymore.

The number of people butthurt that Tetris evolved into something worth playing (i.e. not the Nintendo-published versions of the game) will never cease to astound me.

How about a Soviet history lesson to the tune of Tetris?

Bullshiat.  The blocks were moving faster than the human eye can even follow, and it would require prescience to know the upcoming blocks and where to put them with no thought.
Not to mention, no Tetris I've played moves that fast.

If you read the article there's a link to a reddit thread Tetris grandmaster saying it's real and it was inevidible to break the 20s mark.

If you look on the right side of the screen, you'll see that the player gets a preview of the next 5 or 6 blocks on the right, rathern than the usual one.

I'd think that no approved links means he's not on Fark all the time - and thus has a better chance at not being in Mom's basement.

Thanks. Now that I've actually watched it and see you know which blocks are coming next, I think I believe it's real. And you know, considering what I've seen Starcraft players do during their intial build phase, maybe it can be done even faster...

Wrong.  Anyone with a brain can tell you that getting a greenlight is like walking into the jungle and cutting off a lion's head with your bare hands.  But then again, here you are, posting on FARK, so it's hard to take anything you say seriously.

Yeah, this is the 'hard drop' version, there are a tremendous amount of variations that were never in the NES/SNES versions. I believe this is an arcade only title.

Also, fun fact: Tetris in the old (1993) Windows Games pack used an unsigned 16-bit int to keep score, however, it displayed as signed. Thus, if you scored over 32,767, it would roll over and stat counting up from -32,768. Eventually, I reached a point where I rolled it back around to 0 and then quickly lost interest.

Because the high score table displayed all the negative number high scores.
