Sandusky Knows Best: WhiskeySticks: Funny how the article didn't mention how Chicago cheated against Detroit because the refs are in on it.

Oh yeah, that didn't happen in reality.

Can't wait for October 1st...

I didnt click the link. However if there was no mention of refs cheating on behalf of chicago, i at least know johnny popcorn didnt right the article.

Rev.K: According to CalgaryFlames.com the Flames will open the pre-season on September 14th versus the Oilers at the Dome.

/the more you know

Glad to hear there's been good progress.  The pics I saw during the playoffs looked like it might have been past the point of no return.

elguerodiablo: At least they're pursuing.  The only thing the AVs are pursuing is more available Cap space.  5th Cheapest team in the league, farking hooray.  Now they're applying the same dimstore management bullshiat to the Nuggets.  I hope the Kronkemarts are the first people to die of the hybrid EbolaCancerAIDS.

Roy wouldn't have taken the job if he hadn't been assured he'd have the resources to compete. As for their current cap, where should they blow the money this offseason? I'd rather they build smart than just throw money at a meager FA field. Not to mention, they've locked up Duchene and Landeskog this summer long-term. The time to be mad at Avs management/money is passed.

To be honest, I was kinda looking forward to a road trip to Saskatoon to see the Flames play.

Edmonton would have been fun too, but much more stabby.

Pardon Me Sultan: sno man: I'd suggest the Devils getting out of the Kovalchuk deal puts them in at least neutral territory, new ownership tips them to winner side for this hockey fan.  Now if they'd gotten out of the Kovalchuck deal before free agency, that would have been better for the team. But... if's and but's and all that.

I saw the Devils in the "losers" category and stopped reading right there. The guy is obviously an idiot and doesn't deserve the clicks he'll get from this.

The extra cap space, especially for a franchise watching its pennies, is a huge win and one I'm positive they're thrilled about.

Kovalchuk was definitely a star player, but they'll be able to ice a better team with the dollars they now suddenly have available to spend.

The extra cap space isn't useful if you don't use it to add good players. They might be able to ice a better team hypothetically sometime in the future, but right now, the team they're icing got worse. When an already bad team gets worse rather than better during the offseason, expect to see it on the losers list.

But keep telling yourself that. Tell yourself that right up until the first overall pi... Whoops.

sigdiamond2000 * * Smartest * Funniest 2013-08-20 09:30:16 AM Yeah, you really have to wonder why they keep employing the same personnel strategy that has proven to be such an utter failure for the last 20 years.

And... we're done here.

/Everyone else constantly goes young, but the team that constantly goes 'old' (especially about 4 years ago or so when Chelios and Lidstrom alone combined to be about 90 years old) always wins.
//It works for them!

Rev.K: I'm predicting the bottom of the Pacific Conference for the Flames this season.

If it came to it, I'd tank it now for a #1 pick.

This rebuild is going to be painful.

Tsk tsk Rev, you know the drill. 4-10 pts from a playoff spot. Just enough for a meh pick.

I don't even think we can manage that this year.

For the Devils, yes losing Kovalchuk and Clarkson was hard (especially David, I thought he would become a lifetime Devil like Elias and Daneyko, plus no one else on the Devils can punch a shot into the net and then give an even harder punch to the opposing player for complaining about it!), but the Devils have to move on and look at their current situation. Reid Boucher is probably the Devils' next home grown goal scorer to replace Zach Parise, he just needs some time in the AHL to warm up to the task. As for the current situation on net, other than Ryan Clowe I am quite happy with the signings that Lou has made. Jagr will be doing his hardest to show he can still be an offensive threat (and remember, he was the Stars' top scorer before they stupidly traded him to Boston), Schneider will be fighting with Brodeur for the top goalkeeper spot, and Michael Ryder will probably do the best for his new team this year. I am just hoping that Peter DeBoer can put it all together to get back to the playoffs so the fans will have something to root for and not have to still moan that Kovy and Clarky left.

And for yet another year, Darcy Regier ensures that the Sabres are not even part of this discussion. The most timid GM in hockey.

Most any draft review out there pegs Buffalo as one of the biggest winners of the draft.

That's two extremely strong drafts in a row.

Don't worry, the rebuilding plan is actually proceeding pretty well. Good times are coming pretty soon, with the great pipeline of talent coming up. It would be foolish for Darcy to go out and sign overpriced, past-their-prime free agents at ths point in the process.

Kassabian fails for spelling it "Jerome" Iginla.   As it is, while someone stateside running what looks like a football blog may not know who Morgan Klimchuk or Karri Ramo are, we do.  It is going to be a rough year, we all knew that, but far to early to say that we got "nothing" for Jarome Iginla or that our goaltending is going to fail.
