There was some "reality" show on TV a while back that was pretty entertaining... They took one-hit wonder acts and had them perform their hit, and then a modern hit. Wang Chung came on, played whatever their big song was, "Wang Chung Tonight", and then they covered that Nelly song "Hot in Here." It was pretty damn fantastic.

Some "reality" show... like the one they linked to within the actual post here.

Although it annoyed me when they bring on acts that clearly had more than one hit (as WC did), although this was the U.K. version of that show, maybe they only had one song hit in the U.K.

/and I could never get over the guy calling him "Vaniller Ice".

To Live and Die in LA is my fave Wang Chung tune. I watched the movie just because of that song.

Thirded. I actually like that song. It's on my mammoth 80s playlist. Everybody Have Fun Tonight, however, is just farking annoying.

It's a surprisingly dark song if you listen to more than the chorus:

"On the edge of oblivion
All the world is Babylon
And all the love and everyone
A ship of fools sailing on"

So it is really a song about people partying while the world is burning down around them, which is why I find it oh so fitting that it is played so often at big corporate events.

As an alternative to working at McDonald's, I too shall cover the Modest Mouse.

I was gonna say the bridge is the best part of Everybody Have Fun...

Yep.  Should really be To Live and Die in LA > Dance Hall Days > Everybody Have Fun Tonight.  The movie is surprisingly good too.  One of those reminders of how good an actor William Petersen is outside of CSI.

I wasn't a huge fan, but I always thought those horn arrangements on their two big hits were pretty fantastic.   They were always pretty devout pop music nerds.     Jack Hues attended the Royal College of Music.    After Wang Chung fizzled out he scored movies and formed a one off prog outfit with Genesis keyboardist Tony Banks.   Last I heard the "other guy" was working AR for Sony discovering acts.

Glad to see they're keeping it real 80s, rockin dat Steinberger.

I saw them at a club back in their hey-day.  They were (are?) a very, very good live act.

Wang Chung's "Points on a curve" was years ahead of it's time.
For me it is a classic.

Hell, they look like they are having fun and enjoying all this. Good on them for not looking miserable, and they didn't age TOO badly over the years either.

back in the day, I'd change my co-workers' Windows Start sounds for April Fools' Day. Used this one once, and the co-worker wanted to keep it.

Trim your strings at the machine head, douche bag. Sorry to be such a dick about it, but once you've had your eyeball scratched it isn't an option.

I had a Wang Chung album, on cassette.  It was pretty good, I think.  Been a long time since I've successfully played any of my old cassettes.

I don't know Modest Mouse, though.
