bojon: Sad, but if they did not move quickly the mother would have tenants rights and then the city would have to go through an eviction process.
Tom_Slick: OK dick move and property owner rights arguments aside. Would anyone really want to live in the house where your family member was murdered? I know it was because of some whack job and not a high crime area, but just having to walk by the spot your family member was gunned down to get your mail everyday would bother me.
cman: Gotta love bureaucracy
scottydoesntknow: The Denver Housing Authority declined an on-camera interview, but issued this statement, "The mother was living in the home as a live-in aid to the lessee. Under federal policies and regulations, once the head of household is no longer with us, a live-in aid no longer has rights to that unit. We understand the family is under duress, but we will be locking the unit because they have no legal rights. We know this is a very tragic situation and offer our condolences."Didn't they just legalize weed there? The DHA really needs to blaze up and mellow out.I thought they may have been behind on rent for a while (it can take months to evict someone), and it was just shiatty timing. But this is a pretty dick move.
BravadoGT: just an inconvenience. They'll still be living in government housing somewhere--just somewhere else.
walkingtall: cman: Gotta love bureaucracyThis is what happens when you seek to create a subclass of dependency. When you put your life in the hands of the govt it never works out well. It might be too late though. I don't remember who it was that said freedom is doomed once people realize they can vote to give themselves money. Dependency is a trap that very few can ever get out of. Once the dependent can outvote the non dependent the entire house of cards will fall. The true sadness is you are doing no favors to the dependent.
fusillade762: Right. And Hitler was a progressive. I'm on to your shtick.

jpo2269: Sadly, with a little bit of effort on the behalf of the people at the housing authority, this eviction could be avoided at least in the short term. There really is no excuse for this act of inhumanity.
Mark Ratner: Actually, he was...in an evil, sick, twisted sorta way.
walkingtall: Mark Ratner: Actually, he was...in an evil, sick, twisted sorta way.Good luck with that. If there is one thing farkers are good at is rewriting history the way they want. I have fought that battle before with all of the progressive ideas Hitler directly took from the progressive movement in the US. Farkers just put their fingers in their ears and yell LALALA fascism right wing....
Barfmaker: The first house I bought way back when was being rented to someone and the renters had agreed (to the existing owner) to move out by the closing date but my lawyer told me I also had to serve them with a formal eviction notice too.I said that it seemed a bit aggressive and that I was worried that it would create a caustic or confrontational atmosphere when it didn't seem like there was any problem and I'd rather have a more cooperative atmosphere. He then laid out just what can happen if they decide they don't want to move out, which took a while, and asked me if I wanted to take that chance. He said it was really just a formality and they weren't going to go tossing their shiat into the streets, but rather it was just a paper making it legally clear that they had to leave and when.Up until then I didn't think it be like it is but it do.
jpo2269: ,walkingtall,Ironically,, while I cannot point to a series of examples that would prove you wrong in the arena of government reactions, thankfully the American people are very, very generous in response in the time of need.
