That right there...that speaks volumes about some conservatives' mentality.  And it's behind alot of the projection we see on Fark from their brave little posters.  They assume everyone is as pathetic as they are.  "Don't accuse me of being childish because you'd be just as childish if the roles were reversed."  Accusations of hypocrisy just roll off their back because they assume everyone else is hypocritical.  And sometimes they don't just assume - they need the other side to be as bad as them so as to excuse their own behavior.

I didn't know that the law extended to full on starship trooper showers.  Ya, I'm not okay with that.  Way to many issues at that age to throw a naked girl or guy into the mix.

This is the central problem with conservatives. They are farking dreadful people.

'The poor must be scamming welfare!" (because it's what they would do)
"Without fear of god people will rape or murder!" (because it's what they would do)
"Without laws we'd try to perv on chicks in the toilet (because it's what they would do)

and so on and so on. It becomes very easy to understand from the perspective of dreadful people who can't conceive of their being other, non-dreadful, people in the world.

Another question:  What are they doing for transgender kids when it comes time for sex ed, when they seperate the boys and the girls.  If the boy has been living as a girl, does he suddenly get stuck with the boys to learn about his balls?  Or does he stick with the girls and learn about the period he will never, ever had?

Just seems that it would make things worse for the kid

We had separate sex-ed classes when I was in the 4th grade and I'm class of 2000.  It was Texas though.

The boys had to watch a video warning that we might randomly ejaculate at any time.

We were still separated in Texas in the 80's. Obviously, I don't know what the kids are doing today.

When I was a kid in summer camp, we found one of the screened windows to the girls showers had a gap in it. I ain't gonna lie, when I found out about it, I looked. We all did. And I will never forget this one girl, what a terrific body on her. She must have been a bit of an exhibitionist, because once she caught us looking. Instead of screaming in horror, she smiled and put on a little show, dancing around a bit and soaping herself down in the most lurid way possible. I'll tell you: that 45 seconds of my life gave my fevered pubescent mind spank material for the next five years.

Wait, what was I talking about again?

At one point in the clip, he's 'concerned' that it might open up a kid to being bullied. Yeah, you know what would be much better? Send a trans student dressed like a girl into the boys' locker room. I'm sure she wouldn't face any bullying in there.

Diogenes: During his interviews, Joseph strongly pushed the problem of boys pretending to be transgender in order to get into girls' bathrooms and locker rooms. "I mean, that's what I would do," says Joseph.

People who are strongly conservative about anything think this way. As an atheist when I debated fundies about their stances, many many many times they would say something like the following: "If I didn't believe in God, I would be out raping, murdering and stealing." They think internally if they didn't have a threat of consequence (God) they would do bad things, they only do not do bad things because of God, therefore it's very important to believe in God.

Anyway it's very black and white thinking and common when one is conservative. I also find it to be very simplistic, almost childlike thinking too.

The very worst part about this type of thinking is it's a flaw in the process. Even if you expose them to information, and during discussion manage to shift their opinion...they will return to the old opinion almost immediately after. Their flawed thinking simply takes them to those conclusions.

Not trying to be insulting or anything, I'm talking about highly conservative people of any ilk. You could be a nutty stamp collector and it would apply.

It's bullshiat. It isn't what he would do. Between being socially ostracized and getting beat up, it's not something anyone would do. Trans people, like gay people, didn't just see their classmates wailing on other kids for being different and say "ooh, I want in on that." Kids have enough problems without jackasses assuming that the kids are as exploitative and naive as conservative adults.

I am an advocate for equal rights for everyone but I draw the line with transgenders. They can f*ck off. We can't possibly accommodate every f*ckwit with an (at best) crippling identity crisis (more likely a serious mental disorder). Every race, gender, gay or straight, should be free to live as they please. But transgenders can f*ck off and die if they're going to demand ludicrous sh*t like using opposite-sex restrooms.

2013-08-19 05:51:58 PM
I could care less if some trans woman walked in the mens room pretending to be a dude. Is it that big of an issue for people? Or just conservatives with deeply hidden sexual identity issues? Do most women care if a  trans guy walked into a women's room? might be a little awkward I guess. One would probably make a joke later on facebook or something, but they wouldn't make an issue out of it.

Now if a hot 20 something girl walks into the mens room and wants a gangbang, well we have a situation there. A situation i'd have to join in on.

/never happens.

I've been to several NFL games and big concerts where women have used the men's room - the only reason anyone cared is because they were "cheating" by cutting in line, when the women's lines were longer.

I don't know that 'conservative' is the word for it, but I do agree that many 'conservative' persons adopt this worldview. Chicken and egg problem, maybe? Does an appeal to higher powers and an acceptance of conformity attract the weak-minded to conservatism, or does conservatism mold its followers to fit those patterns?

Eh. Too little scotch at the office for that discussion.

Aren't you special. Anyway, that's not what's happening in most places. As has been pointed out it's usually just the installation of a single-user unisex bathroom, so you can redirect your vicious bile somewhere else.

Haven't followed the story, don't live in California...but that explanation doesn't make sense.  Why would you need "permission" in the form of a law to use a single-person bathroom?  Do schools have single-person bathrooms right now that say "Boys" and "girls" on them?  Does this law mandate that schools put in single-person bathrooms.  Genuinely curious.

Oh, so THIS is where my friend got that halfbrained idea. ZOMG transgendered teens in bathrooms will allow other teens to have sex!!11!!

As if that suddenly wouldn't still be against the rules. As if any transgendered teen would really be interested in the bathroom just for that reason. As if any straight teen would pretend to be trans in order to do it.

I was bi all through high school. I never once got locker room pussy. Quit worrying about your daughter's chastity and teach her how to own it herself.
