Bronze Fonz appears to be life-size, if not life-like. Winkler is a wee lad, I believe

It looked better when it was bronze.

Gerald Sawyer (far right), the sculptor from the Lake Mills area, had a desire to leave Fonz in gleaming gold bronze - "Pop art at its finest," he said. But he said the committee organizing the project said late in the process that it wanted a black leather jacket, white T-shirt and blue jeans. They also apparently required that he emasculate him to some degree.

as long as he doesnt sculpt the Schfonzi.

you mean besides being portrayed by Henry Winkler?

I wonder how many motorcycles and water-ski jumps the Fonz can get with a reverse mortgage, if he acts on it today.

2013-08-19 03:10:48 PM
Which means it's almost time to bring in a bronze Chachi.

Surely this thing is known as Bronzie. It's so obvious!

Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye!

The Big 5 Point 0

I've got a few years to go, myself, Old Timer, but I feel your pain.

My search for five-year-old Fonzie was only semi-successful. Most images for "Fonzie five years old" are pictures of 1) Fonzie; 2) Fonzie jumping the shark or 3) cats and dogs, presumably named Fonzie and possibly five years old.

2013-08-19 03:16:43 PM
Yeah.  I totally hit that.

It looked perfectly hideous when it was bronze, but yes, they managed to make it even creepier.

FTA: "The life-size statue - 5-foot-6, just like Winkler..."

Also FTA:  "It is a great honor. You cannot be blase about that, no matter how much time goes by." ...Winkler also gets to Milwaukee maybe once a year and likes visiting the statue. "There are always people taking pictures. I kind of go in and photo-bomb their picture and then they realize, holy mackerel, I'm there, the statue is there, they're there. It is a pretty delightful situation," he said. "Sometimes I just walk up and say, 'You know what. Let me get the both of you together and I'll take the picture.' ""

That's deserving of a thumbs up.

/And an aaaaayyyyyy

CSB: A few years ago we went to a family Halloween party, and while we were there it was decided that the adults would judge the kids' costumes and the kids would judge the adults'. I went as Fonzie, partially because it was relatively easy to throw together. Leather jacket, check; jeans, check; white t-shirt, check; slicked back hair, check. One of the kids said to me, "Hey, you didn't even wear a costume," to which I indignantly replied, "Yes I did - I'm The Fonz!"

To which she confusedly replied, "What's a fonz??"

The Fonz thought me English. Happy Days was the first English language TV show that I watched, in part because my big sister had gotten me a Fonz T-Shirt and I did not know who he was.

You know when you were a kid and your school gave out awards like "funniest" and such? In the 6th grade I got - I sh*t you not - the "Fonzie" award because, according to the diploma-like paper, I was "always so cool." It was the 80s and I wore black Members Only jacket and knockoff Ray-Bans because, well, kids are idiots. I'm still mad that my mother let me run around looking like that. There are family photos I have tried to purge, but they keep popping up everywhere.
