No. It's not. It's a nice logo, but let's not get carried away here.

Also, I'm curious when ESPN got all fashion conscious. Dude's taking points off because there are too many caps or the font has too many nubbins on it. And I HATE THE YANKEES, but there's no way their classic pinstripes should put them in 7th place.

I criticize the dude for caring and then I go and care. Bah!

Yep. It happened in yesterday's Cards - Cubs game. Bases loaded, infield fly rule was called. SS catches ball, runner takes off from third, SS stands there with his thumb up his ass for a couple more seconds, then throws home way too late, Cards score another run.

Pirates at 11?  no.  Easily top 5.  Those togs are tight, yo.

in no order:

Dodger homes.  iconic, simple, clean lines, regal blue (yeah i know purple is regnant, but the dodger blue is regal as shiat.

A's.

San Dog cammies.  those are tight.

pinstripes are overrated.

Never thought I'd be saying this, but this set is bad enough to make a fella nostalgic for their original purple and teal design.

yeah, the snakes togs are boring.  Yeah, Snakes, WE NEEDED ANOTHER GODAMN RED TEAM.  Red Sox, Reds, Nats, Cardinals, Angels, Snakes, and then to an extent, Phillies, Braves, Rangers, and Cleveland.  yeah.  we needed more red.  Say what you want about the Purple, that shiat was one of a kind.  you always knew who was playing when you saw the purple.  now wer'e just another boring red team.

I happen to like colors. Home whites, road greys for everyone is just boring. The Yankees uni is classic, I get it, but it's boring to me.

As for the Cubs, I've always been partial to the 1980's variation:

The "infield" part of the infield fly rule refers to the player, not the location. If an infielder can catch it with an ordinary effort (not sure of the exact wording off the top of my head), there are less than 2 out and runners on first and second, it counts. No matter where that ordinary effort takes the infielder.

I thought this article had the 'stros ranked too damn high, especially with this as their legacy. Love the lids, don't get me wrong, but it truly looks like they bought what was on clearance at the local Dick's Sporting Goods for the rest of the kit.

And, I may be in the minority here, but I like the Brewers' gear, even the gold alts. So long as it doesn't have that #8 on the back, it looks pretty good.

In 1929, when numbers became a thing, there were only 7 other teams in your league and no inter-league games except the World Series.   If you couldn't figure out the regular line-ups and a pitcher, you just weren't following baseball. I think it is better looking to have only numbers, but when the other, now, 29 teams are putting names on their road uniforms, it seems a little cocky.

Personally, I'd rather everybody just have numbers and I buy a program, anyway.  Maybe haze rookies by having their uniforms be the only ones with names...they only get a 'real' jersey when they've been on the roster for at least 90 games.

I guess I'm not understanding how it's "cocky" to keep your uniforms nearly exactly as they have been since adding the interlocking NY to the front of the home jersey in 1936.  The road "NEW YORK" jersey has been essentially unchanged since 5 years before that.

ha, that's funny.

i remember golfing in tucson right about this time of year a fwe years back.  heard a really odd bird call.  turned around, a bright red cardinal was watching me.  i said to my playing partners, "that right there is an omen, fellas."

and i was proven right.  that was the super bowl season!

I'm here for you, Lucky. And I guess I'm sorry about the "gentlemen & Craig" comment. I'll pick on mucky next time. How's RG3 doing? Are all of his sticks in working order yet?

He looked okay and wasn't noticeably favoring one leg over teh other on the one day I visited training camp, and he did a little bit in 7 on 7 walkthroughs but can't really judge till a game situation, and that's not happening in pre-season.

Sexual Dimorphism.  Adult male cardinals are that bright red color.  Females and juveniles are more brownish.
However, according to Wikipedia, both use a cloaca to reproduce, so it really does change nothing.

I find it amusing that even with that horrific red jigaboo on their uniforms, the Indians were still ranked higher than both the Marlins and the Padres.

Personally, I've always thought the Mets' home jerseys were pretty slick, and also the green-gold-white combo they're working in Oakland.  Anything to get away from the generic white-and-red-and/or-blue that too many teams seem to default to.  Also, I'd like to see the Mariners adopt the color scheme that the Seahawks and the Sounders use - I think that the lime green and navy blue combination works really well, and it'd make it so Pittsburgh wasn't the only city where all of their sports teams have the same colors.

I love how ESPN slams Cleveland for a racist logo, yet THEY are the ones benefiting from that very same cool logo by plastering it all over their site and broadcasts     If ESPN truly felt it was so bad, then use the C or the I, instead... Don't leach off Wahoo, then claim its un-PC.

I know he caught it. Go back to the part during Harrison's pick 6 where Fitz was about to catch him when Antrel Rolle blocked Fitz because he was leaning onto the field. Slowed Fitz down enough that he couldn't catch him before the goal line.

I'm a huge Indians fan, and I agree that the Wahoo needs to go. I only buy team merch with the C, as I don't want to walk around with a big racist caricature on my head. Also, it annoys me that the team uses two different color sets for it's block C sets and the script/wahoo sets. It's most noticeable when they're using the navy block C batting helmets with the dark blue script Indians jerseys. Uni Watch actually did a design competition for re-doing the Indians team name/uniforms/logos, and I liked the winner:

l1.yimg.com

Granted, I'd make a few tweaks (possibly re-including the Red cap, or a throwback "Bronchos" look of the a white block C with a blue background, making the primary home a solid white with name on back, not having the space between the gaps in the S, p, d, e and s be colored in as if the wordmark was a sticker), but it's a good start. As far as the name, it's a good fit as it ties in with the team and city's history quite well, and Spiders is a unique but suitable team name. It's better than any of the other former team names for Cleveland (Bronchos, Lake Shores, Bluebirds, Blues, Naps, Molly McGuires, and Forest Citys being the others).

rickythepenguin: yeah, the snakes togs are boring.  Yeah, Snakes, WE NEEDED ANOTHER GODAMN RED TEAM.

I can at least justify that the Diamonbacks are unique in being red and black (whereas 12 different teams use both red and blue in their color scheme, and that's not including the Yankees - whose logo uses both - or the White Sox - who use red/blue for their 80s throwbacks). Now that the Astros have gone back to orange, they're the only team rocking that combination of colors aside from the Reds, who have a much different shade and don't use black so prominently. So the potential is there for it to be unique/distinguished without being awful. Having "DBacks" written in giant font is just not very good execution.

Yeah, i'm a big uniwatch blog fan too. I agree with Paul's taste in uniforms 90% of the time as a traditionalist. Then one day he decided he cared about native american named logos/teams, now he's all over preachy/political about native american imagery in sports. He lives in Brooklyn, I bet he's never even had a conversation with a member of a tribe.

If it's limited to the Cleveland Indians logo and the name "Redskins", I find it hard to disagree with him. If he has an issue with the name "Braves" or whatever he's a douche.

Yeah. They've had some abominations in their time, but the current home/away combo is a great look (minus the black alternate). Definitely top 10 if not top 5.

I was also always partial to the late 80s/early 90s "C" hat, which a bunch of idiots get confused with a Cubs or Cleveland hat. Dummies.

Sometimes a professional team's logo/symbol has nothing to do with the city. And the logos change for marketing reasons. But in Europe, the team crest rarely changes and usually represents the city the team is located in. Case in point, the amateur soccer team of my parents' hometown in Italy.

i like the script or font, whatever.  just the scheme is so farked out.  the "purple and teal" was schlocky but when they minimized the teal and just had the purple / black, that was tight.  the pinstriped purple was cheesy but....ehhh.  they ain't bringing it back.  except the one game a year when they do throwback night.

(although a few years ago, they did throwback night, which started a mini-streak to go into the playoffs, and i recall the team lobbying to keep wearing their "lucky" uniforms....)
