How did this get greenlit?

Sudden Impact was not too horrible, it gave one of the best all time quotes in cinematic pop culture.

I've said before that the Hangover 3 was the Smokey and the Bandit 3 of the series.

I thought Psycho 2 was pretty good.

Oh wait, nevermind, I see they included Superman III, which shows they know nothing! That film was awesome.

As an older brother I am legally obligated to tell you to "get over it!"

FTFA:

At one point, Callahan thwarts a diner robbery by plugging everyone in sight. When the last perp standing tries to escape with a hostage, the aging Callahan points the Auto Mag at him and utters, "Go ahead. Make my day."

The author is an idiot.  Here are the reasons:

1) Sudden Impact does not belong on this list....it's the second best Dirty Harry movie.

2) He didn't have his Automag at the diner....he still had his S&W Model 29.

Is Sudden Impact the one with the circus? Because that was farking terrible.

Some bad films on this list, but I'm not sure any of them top Curse Of The Pink Panther. It was bad enough that the Pink Panther films had run their course by '83, but the fact that Peter Sellers was already dead should have been a big red flag.

Loved 'Psycho 2'....Most people seem to agree that it's a worthy sequel.

Psycho 2 is frigging awesome. Ya got Perkins being a weirdo, Dennis Franz as a d-bag, Vera Miles getting killed real good like, and most importantly yummy Meg Tilly

Yeah, Sudden Impact was the weakest of the Dirty Harry franchise. That said, A. It's Clint Eastwood fercryingoutloud, and B. "Go ahead...make my day" (gotta say with a sneer) is iconic.

Like it or not, haters.

As to #2 you're right on the mark. #1 though? That'd be a stretch for me.

FTFA: The fake kryptonite first turns Superman into a callous, lethargic drunk, and then magically splits him into two: Jerk Superman and pure-hearted Clark Kent.

Soooooo, the author didn't realize that Superman didn't split into two and that fight was all in his head? It was the only spark of genius in an otherwise terrible (yet oddly fun to watch) film.

Psycho II has one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen in a horror movie, because it's relateable.  When Bates is talking to the daughter (who is dressed up as Mrs. Bates at the time) she is walking backwards down the stairs while brandishing a knife.  Norman reaches out and grabs the knife, which she pulls back.  I think everyone has felt and accidental cut with a knife, and this was just so realistic to me that to this day it freaks me out.

Wasn't go ahead punk make my day in Dirty Harry, not some boner sequel called Sudden Impact?

It was the first one with the iconic mask, so it wasn't entirely worthless.

Calling "Sudden Impact" the weakest of the Dirty Harry Movies is like calling the Boxster the slowest of Porsche Models. Its "worst" is better than most "bests."

Since 'Superman 3' and 'Sudden Impact' have their defenders, can I put in a good word for 'Octopussy?'  It was fun and there were bits of an almost decent Cold War soy thriller mixed in with the silliness.

It also came out in 1982 so doesn't qualify.

Superman III gets a lot of hate because it wasn't better than Superman II. Still, seen in the right light, it was okay. I think of it as a comedy, though.

No.  In Dirty Harry he makes the speech about the .44 magnum being the most powerful handgun in the world...can blow your head clean off...  And the speech about the number of shots fired that ends with ...do you feel lucky punk?

For me Sudden Impact's best line is:
At the diner right after he drinks his sugar
DH:  "well, we're not going to let you boys get away with this"
Punk:  "who's we?"
DH:  "Smith & Wesson, and me"

The Dead Pool is the worst Dirty Harry movie, even Liam Neeson couldn't save it.

Magnum Force was pretty good with Hutch, Street (Dan Tanna to you young 'uns) and Eric Stratton as the dirty rookies and Suzanne Somers topless in the beginning.

I don't remember The Enforcer plot as well I think that's the one where he has Cagney (or was it Lacey) as a partner forced on him.

Dirty Harry and Magnum Force are 1 and 1a for me.  After that it's Sudden Impact, The Enforcer and The Dead Pool.

Call a spade a spade.

Jedi was my first in-theater Star Wars movie, and I still think of it as my favorite of the original 3.

That being said, the film critic in me agrees that it was an absolute dog of a movie overall and inferior to it's predecessors in almost every way.
