Anyone who thinks the GOP is dead as a party need only look at states like Arkansas to know that is BS.

When that fire hit your ass, it will sober your ass upquick! I saw something, I went, "Well, that's a pretty blue. You know what? That looks like...FIRE! Fire is inspirational. They should use it in the Olympics, because I ran the 100 in 4.3.

"I think that President Obama has in some ways what you would think of as a hard-left agenda in various ways"

What ways are those?

You mean when Obama closed Guantanamo Bay? When he freed Mumia Abu Jamal?

Anyone who thinks that intellectualism is dead need only look at states like Arkansas to know that is a fact.

"Hard-left" for Arkansas's political culture, perhaps--which is turning more red, as TFA points out.

"We run Arkansas!" is not a ringing endorsement of the GOP or its governing style.

Funny thing about that...

So... while I agree that he's not liberal enough for my liking, you're wrong about Gitmo being indicative of his own personal actions.

Isn't Arkansas just the inverse of Kansas (if we were to use math). If this holds true, does that mean that Kansas is more liberal than Arkansas or is Arkansas more liberal?

These are the questions we should be asking

/though I do love "But we run ARKANSAS!!!" as the new GOP motto

Hard-left actions taken by Obama:
*Republican invented health-care reform.
*What you thought there'd be more than one thing?

"[Pryor] sees a resurgence of the Democratic brand, starting with the 2014 governor's race behind Democratic candidate Mike Ross; state House elections where the party has a chance of taking back the chamber; the possibility of Democrats picking up one or two U.S. House seats; and the prospects of a Hillary Clinton 2016 bid putting the state back into play on the presidential level."

Either he's wildly optimistic because there's a mic in his face, or the GOP may not even have that part of the Ozarks for the next 4 years.

Oh yay. Another "Democrat" like Blanche Lincoln who still votes Republican on everything and acts like every other Democrat is the lib'rullest lib'rul to ever lib'rul a lib'rul. To paraphrase Dirk Calloway, with friends like these, who needs friends?

Yes, yes, yes!  Purge the DINOs!

Now that would be hilarious

Doesn't matter when politics these days is all about who can shout and herp and derp the loudest. Until Democrats and/or progressives can get on the same page and grow a collective spine, reactionaries will rule.

He's not completely off.  Mike Ross has a definite advantage in the current governor's race.  A couple of the Republicans in the House are pretty mediocre, but a mediocre incumbent is usually good enough.  The Democratic legislature didn't really use the 2010 redistricting to their advantage.  Part of the problem is that the DNC more or less abandoned us in 2010.  I guess they didn't think it was worthwhile defending a red state, even if it had two Democratic senators and 3 of 4 Democratic representatives.

Well, you're choosing between a DINO and a Republican.  Blanche Lincoln was primaried from the left in 2012 and he didn't accomplish much.  Really you have to choose between a "50 state strategy" and party purity.  People like Mark Pryor and Max Baucus were hailed as a vindication of Dean's strategy when they were elected; now they're considered apostates.  Myself, I'd rather have 55 tarnished Democratic senators instead of 40 pure hearts.

Arkansas will do exactly what the Walmart girls tell them to do. That's it. Please turn off the lights.

And, you'll get just as much accomplished either way. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to enjoy that single-payer health care system my "Democratic" Congress made possible.

He hasn't been the same since Dusty Baker made his arm fall off.
