you dont really stop doing something like that I guess.. I would expect him to expire with glue and matches in hand. And why not.

Also his models arent bad at all, which is a change for these kind of stories.

It's amazing what you can achieve with just matches and boxes. Credit to him. I can't even assemble the airfix kits without ingesting a dangerous amount of glue and sticking myself to the ceiling somehow.

Do people pay good money for stuff like that? If so his kids might want to make sure he doesn't contemplate the Viking funeral.

line them up next to one another in a complex pattern, perhaps taking in little rope bridges or egg timers filling with sand or suchlike, then push the first one over

He should at least post a bunch of pictures to show off his work.  He talks about his favorite being a carrier, and the newspaper takes one picture that has a single WWII destroyer and a single Modern Destroyer?  Fail reporter.

Oh honey, the grand kids came by and got bored. So they played with your boats. I guess they were a little rough with them. I didn't know they had that lighter fluid and a bunch of firecrackers. Daughter Maureen said she would talk to them about respecting other peoples property. But you know she'll forget.

They bring a matchstick you bring a cigarette lighter... they send one of yours to the fireplace you send one of theirs to the bonfire.

It's the Blandford, Dorset way.

I was going to make some snarky comment about buying GHQ or Panzerschiffe, but I clicked on the second link and realized his ships are 1/300 scale.  Hoooly crap, it's time to rent a basketball gym and bust out the tape measures.

/what rules set do you use for 1/300 - modified Fletcher Pratt or maybe Victory at Sea?

Except his addiction leaves a legacy that is already on display at a museum.  WoW addicts' legacy?  A giant pile of Cheetos bits behind the cushion of a worn out recliner.

His attention to detail is frikkin' unreal, and it shows...it's an awesome collection.

I've been building since I was a kid, and on a similar theme I did a 3ft Fletcher Class Destroyer for my dad before he died, as a Christmas gift.  It was extremely difficult to buy gifts for him, but the ship was a real winner...never seen him get excited over any kind of gift but he was pretty jazzed about the ship.

Well, yes.  I was leaving it vague so people could draw their own conclusions.

It's a shame that people of a younger generation (myself included) don't have the patience or work ethic to do something like this.
