Wow, talk about beating a dead horse (or chicken)

2013-08-18 03:11:49 PM
That was 10x better than most movie fight scenes in that the camera wasn't up their nostrils and shaking like Michael J. Fox was the director of photography.

Haha the chicken is boba fett.

I don't remember getting turned on by the original version.

In the original didn't they fight on a moving train?  I could be wrong, since it's older than balls.

Famous? I fast forward through that stupid scene every time I watch that episode. I know Family Guy isn't exactly supposed to be the paragon of sophistication and humor, but the fact that the stupid chicken character is so random, and the joke just goes on and on and on really made me hate it. It's almost on par with that horrible Conway Twitty cut-away joke they did in a couple episodes. The first time they did that joke, I turned off the TV after 10 seconds and just walked away. I was done with Family Guy after that.

YouTube user Drazthala was amazed by the video, she wrote: 'Wow, epic fight , epic video, epic parody from an an epic episode of Family guy! Good work and thank you very much for making this video!'
Ken Stadelbauer was also entertained and added: 'Unbelievable! Loved the fight and great job editing. My only complaint is that I'll never be able to look at Peter or the Chicken the same way again :D'

When I saw the episode where Brian has to eat Stewies' poop (if you don't know why, you don't need to), I was almost done with Family Guy. But i have to admit, sometimes it makes me LMAO.

Seth McFarlane is a very talented guy. But the chicken fights.......

They're using a comedy device sort of made famous by Monty Python's flying circus.  They used it several times.  In the Holy Grail movie, at the part with the bridge, they kick on an intermission screen and leave it there just long enough for the people in the theatre to get out of their seats and to the isle... then it's game on again.  In Life of Brian, they had a lengthy sequence where he falls into a UFO that is subsequently shot down.  After dusting himself off, Brian is relocated by the Roman soldiers and the chase picks up where it left off.

It's the ugly elderly uncle of trolling.

Yeah I remember that bit from 10 years ago. Don't know why someone would parody it 20 years later though. Copying things that are 30 years old isn't really timely or clever. But, hey some people are really into stuff from 40 years ago.

My reaction to Family Guy in general is: "Who the hell cares???"

When the show first came on it was great to see everyone take their hits evenly.  When it came back and McFarlane was only willing to attack those who didn't agree with his politics, I lost enjoyment watching 'Family Guy'.  The bank vault episode made me turn his show off.  I still watch 'American Dad', but the cancellation of 'Cleveland Show' gives me hope that they'll cancel 'Family Guy' soon.

I've seen the woman playing the chicken on that American Ninja Warrior show. She's never finished, but she does about par for the rest of the contestants. The last time she ran the course this season, she was wearing that chicken outfit. I saw that show before I saw this video, so now it makes a little more sense. Well, as much sense as someone in a chicken costume on an obstacle course can make.

The only decent thing Family Guy did was the Star Wars episodes. I can't believe they canceled The Cleveland Show and left this crap on the air.

I liked the first two Star Wars episodes.  But when the Return of the Jedi episode start off with "We don't want to do it, but the fans insist, so here it goes" they lost me as an audience member.  I want to watch an episode because all who are apart of it enjoy it, or at least I think they all enjoy it.  The moment it becomes "I only did it for the paycheck" or "because it was the only way I could do the project I wanted to do" or "I didn't want to do it, but the fans insisted that I do it" I lose all interest.  In high school I took a public speaking class and one thing the teacher said was "If you start off your speech by saying 'I don't want to give this speech', the audience will stop listening."

And it was clear that McFarlane didn't want to do it.  There was no effort put into the Return of the Jedi episode, everything was phoned in, it wasn't funny or creative.  Everything that the Star Wars episode 4 episode was, the Return of the Jedi episode was not.

I took that as self-depreciating humor.  If they did ESB, of course they were going to do ROTJ.  I thought all three were on about the same level, with ESB maybe being a hair above the other two, just for the one-liners.  The "practice on a hot dog for a couple of weeks" gets me every time.

Maybe that high school class just ruined some things for me.  You hear a line and catch it as a joke, where I hear the same line and think of it not as a joke but think that it's a hidden truth.  It doesn't help that the Family Guy RotJ episode is the one I didn't laugh at or watch a second time (I agree that the ESB episode was better than the first, and that's saying a lot because in all honesty, the first Family Guy Star Wars episode was very well done in both visuals and humor) because it just came across and phoned in and lazy.

Yeah, I don't watch "Family Guy" anymore, but Seth McFarlane is a rather funny and creative man and did a better parody with the first two Family Guy Star Wars episodes than all of the [one word subject] Movie parody movies that we've had for years now.  But, he's only worth watching when it something that he wants to do, and I think the reason why the Family Guy RotJ episode was so unwatchable was simply because it felt that he didn't want to do it.

No.  Seth is extremely talented, but when you look at his overall output, it is almost impossible to escape the conclusion that he is lazy, recycling every joke onto every show, and leaving in the garbage because people watch his crap just like they do his good stuff.  He is quite possibly the cartoon equivalent of F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Bob's Burgers is better than any of the current McFarlane shows.

Excellent point.  That's always the problem: consistently coming up with good plot lines for the same characters.

But how else are they supposed to hide bad fight choreography?  If you go extreme-zoom and bounce the camera like you're doing six whip-pans per second, the audience will believe that there's something awesome happening.
