They used them in the 90s as well. I think they kept them around so long to share the torment.

Worst training  tape I was ever forced to listen to was "remembering  charlie" or something close to that. about a guy who didnt wear his safety gear, and the hell it played on his life as a result.   They made us listen to it every 2 years, The guy is a hell of a motivational speaker, and the story of how it wrecked him and his family was horrible. By the end of the tape, there was always a lady or two crying in the room, and everyone felt depressed as all hell.  I saw this tape last a decade ago, and I can still picture the guys face in my mind.

I did the voicework for the Krystal training videos that are, to the best of my knowledge, still being used today. Basic stuff like how to set-up the mop bucket, the proper way to clean a toilet, and so forth.  It was depressing that I was being paid to explain things most people should have learned to do by the third grade.

I once had my voice recognized at the drive-thru of my local Krystal. The kid had just finished watching the tapes that morning and was rather freaked out to hear the same voice coming through his headset.

/ not really a CSB, but I though it was funny at the time

I would imagine that a square patty is a more efficient use of the limited space of the griddle.  That's why the sliders from white castle are square; they even take it a step further by punching five small holes into the patty to reduce the cooking time.

/They call them "sliders" because of their effect on your large intestine.

I've seen variations of Charlie and his stupid burned ass more times that I can remember.  The reason I am so crass and uncaring about his truly terrible story and ordeal is because I have seen variations of his farking story more times than I can remember.

Must have cost the guy a pretty penny to scrub most of his existence from the internet.  I mean, that video must be his bread and butter, so I'm sure it was worth it, but still.

Ahh.....This brings back the memories! Although it was back in the day (year) of 1997 for me at an east coast Florida Wendy's. Oddly enough, we never had any training videos to watch when I started there. Plus, it wasn't just the grill I rocked, I was stationed all over the place. Registers, fryers, bagging, dishes, prep work, etc. They got their 90's minimum wage ($4.80?) value out of me for sure!

/ I miss their Salad Bar from back then.
// I definitely do not miss that job at all!

Rifftrax has a awesome take on safety videos by doing one called "Shake Hands With Danger" and even one that was shown to school kids called, "Safety: Harm Hides At Home."  I'd rather have the sort of goofy ones compared to the depressing ones, myself.
