The writer of the article goes through a lot of ancient history here without, apparently, having the word "sherbet' in their vocabulary.

When WOULDN'T you buy a mobile truck?

Besides wanting to dump over a dozen cookies on my PC, the Mental Floss article is just plain wrong in it's version of the history of ice cream.

Food.com, along with plenty of other places, states that ice cream has its origins in China.

/almost no trucks left around here.

An ice-cream truck drives through my apartment complex occasionally, mixing its annoying music with an even more annoying, blaring "HELLO~!"

Ice-cream trucks in general don't seem very viable, and my area has a low population in particular.

I read once about a guy who said that, as a child, his mom told him that the ice cream truck played music only when they were OUT of ice cream. That's mean.

Ice Cream Trucks are dying. I've seen less and less of them over the years.

The novelty items are readily available in stores, protective parents are more wary of letting their children play outside, and kids are happy to stay inside with their electronics.

Come to my neighborhood of high racial diversity and lower incomes and you will find hundreds of kids outside and a half dozen ice cream trucks taking turns patrolling the park across the street each day.

George Babbitt: You're a class act

I can't tell if your sarcasm detector is out of calibration, or you're offended because you actually identify with the conservative principles I'm mocking.

Here's a hint. All 3 of my offensive statements are equally absurd in my mind, but you only took exception to 2 of them.

It was a joke, see? Because you alluded that I am from an upper-middle-class suburb with no racial diversity.

I should have a disclaimer attached to my handle for all to see requiring no sarcasm directed my way.
