42/50, an .840 winning percentage, is winning at a rate better than 4 out of 5 games 10 times in a row.  19 of their last 20 on the road, and after the Philly series they get 4 games in Miami.  1.80 ERA for Kershaw.  Greinke and Ryu have been amazing.  The bullpen sucked ass early on and blew saves, but now Jansen's been lights-out dominating and they've found the right combination of set-up guys.  Everyone's been a hero at some point.  Stunning.

But are they one of the top 20 teams in baseball?

The Baseball Tonight Crew is still picking them to finish third in the division.

Went to the Phillies game last night. The phillies are the yin to the dodgers yang. Painfully bad - crazy to think both teams were at 500 going into the all star break.

And they have not lost a series in their last 17.

2013-08-18 10:21:32 AM
And Ramirez is finally playing again

I don't see the Phils winning more than 5 games the rest of the way.  The Dodgers are going to sweep them.  And here I thought they were a .500 ball club.

Yes, they will sweep them.  It's funny, I was musing with a friend that I think it's entirely possible that the Dodgers won't lose more than 10 games the rest of the way, but that number might actually be high.

And they will still get swept out in the first round of the playoffs

The Barves having their annual October fail will be more amusing to watch though.

I have to admit it's pretty impressive.  But they will get destroyed because of FOX tv contracts.

Remember what was it...4 years ago?  Colorado was unbeatable into the playoffs destroying people.  Then they had a WEEK off waiting for a 7 game series, and they tanked.  All it's going to take is one long series after the Dodgers sweep and they will lose all momentum because we drag out the playoffs into their own Roman calendar year of $$$.

There's a difference. Colorado got hot. The Dodgers are the best team in baseball. I can't imagine them losing in the first round, let alone losing a series of any length at this point.

Momentum? Momentum is the next day's starting pitcher.

And it only costs two hundred and forty million dollars. The Dodgers are the Yankees of the west coast.

Yeah the dodgers October collapses the past 20 years are more dramatic, 9-20 in the post season, nothing to brag about...

Twice made it out of the first round and got swept 4 times out of 6 so they are the last to talk about October failures.

Ill admit the Dodgers are the most fun team to watch. Plus since this may very well be Vin Scully's last year ( I hope not ) I have been watching just about every home game as I can to hear Vin

Has a friend who HATES Puig I was like " OK Puig has just been traded to your team. How do you feel?" Crickets. And I love the Ruy, Puig, Ramirez and Uribe bromances going on

Ramirez is a nut. LOL at the end of Uribe's homer

I'm not saying they definitely aren't, but I'd say the Braves have something to say about that.

Playing in a shiatty division helps a lot too, though.

This is what happens in a sport with no salary caps.

Best team is a stretch, they are ok but no where near the best team and they dont have the pitching to last long in the post season.

And yes postseason play is different, the braves in the 90s were set up for a full season, in the post season batters get more patient and pitchers struggle more.

Ha!  Obviously you hate the Dodgers, but that doesn't mean you have to makes shiat up.  Please explain how they don't have the pitching.

And the Red Sox have to play them this week...Fark.

Maybe you should drive: Ha! Obviously you hate the Dodgers, but that doesn't mean you have to makes shiat up. Please explain how they don't have the pitching.

You have two good pitchers, two average pitchers, doesnt exactly strike fear into anyone. And its not shocking that LA is winning games now, they played a tough first half and got an easy second half and lost games to any decent or hard teams they had to play.

Again sometimes thats the way the year plays out but I think the true team was shown during their hard stretch to start the season when they were in last place, Im a realist and even when the seasons the braves won 95-100 games I didnt feel right some seasons, this year they had been injured all the time yet still pulled out a ton of wins during their rough schedule. The real team will show themselves this week when they play the sox, either there will be yet another headline calling out my username if they win or it will be quiet when they get swept or lose the series.
