And to think, for the entire 1970s, whole teams were jacked up on amphetamines.

Okay, as I fully admit that I've paid zero attention to the Royals this year, how bad is this for them?  I mean, I know they're a ways back now in the wild card, but they were at least not being all Royal-ly this year, right?

And? He was juicing years ago, why stop now

He was already on the DL, so no big deal.  They're five games back in the wild card and in the middle of a five game series with Detroit, having already gone 2-1 and currently tied 5-5 in today's game.  It was always going to be a stretch for them given their bad May and June and the fact that Cleveland and Detroit both decided to go on winning streaks at the same time the Royals did, but it's nice to see relevant August baseball again.

Adderall for ADD, and with the league's permission, up until April 15th. The only thing that changed was the paperwork. He didn't get a new permit. It's not like his ADD suddenly became less of an issue.

He wasn't any more juiced than being on Coffee.

it said in another article it was a 25 game suspension for the 2nd positive, but 80 games for the two suspensions being in a short time.  so he knew he was in violation, didn't do his paperwork and still was taking the adderall

That was an awesome game though, one of the best of the season.  I'm still pissed that with the score tied in the 8th that Fat Stinking Billy couldn't get it out of the infield with bases loaded and one out.  Oh well, a win tomorrow for the series would be great.

From the articles I read it sounds like MLB is not allowing adderall to be used at all any longer which is just stupid.

Yeah, I think they're ultimately going to fall short, but it's been a fun ride.

Are there bad side-effects for Adderall? Can it harm you? If so, good. If not, why is it a banned substance?

Is it possible that he could no longer obtain a valid perscription for the Adderall and therefore couldn't renew the waiver? Yet was still taking it? I know it maybe stupid but it is banned and he got 2 positive tests this season.

It's addictive, for one, and used over long periods of time it will seriously fark up your heart; it's a federal controlled substance. It's a banned substance because it helps players stay awake and alert across a long season (and the whole controlled substance thing)

Well, it's not like he was going to the Hall of Fame anyway. Absent roiding, with the stats he had, he might have been one of those guys who hung around the ballot for the full 15 years and caused a big debate, might have popped up on a Veterans Committee ballot every so often, but never really coming close to actual induction. He'd be in the boat with guys like Luis Tiant and Minnie Minoso in the Hall of Very Good. It's actually almost better to know straightaway the answer is no. Now he doesn't have to agonize by the phone every year.

Thank you. So it's no panacea. I could get behind something that does no harm; makes you a better athlete, scholar and citizen; makes you more attractive, articulate, and both more and less hirsute in the right places, but this ain't it. The search continues...

Also, thanks for not "lmgtfy"-ing me. I probably deserved that type of response, but I appreciate your restraint. Another thing; I'm checking out your website, much fun. It's now bookmarked for return visits. See ya around!

That is amusing considering the Biogenesis guys (besides Braun, Cabrera and Colon) never pissed hot. Do you know how easy it is to beat a piss test? It is really, really easy even if you don't have millions of dollars and designer steroids. It is even easier if you have the money to get tested every week to monitor your t:e ratio

And Braun can fark himself as far as I am concerned.

Yes because they pass drug tests, sorry if your boy failed his then lied about it on TV and took a giant shiat on an innocent man but your hero is a farktard.

And FYI, actually having a medical need is not cheating and I predict they will have a time when HGH is used to help heal legally.

I dislike Braun, he can go fark himself. But the Biogenesis guys passed all their drug tests (except Braun, Colon and Cabrera). A-Rod passed his drug tests. How can you have faith in the test when so many guys beat it?

And passing the MLB drug test is really, really easy. Keep your T:E ratio below 6:1 and viola, you pass.

Because the way they test its hard to use with any benefit and pass the tests, thats why braun got busted A-Rod was supposedly using a lot of HGH which is easier to sneak past and was flagged for high levels of PCT which are used to lower ratios, players can get around it by using suspension based in water but do not get as great a boost and is mainly maintenance dosage. Most players that use like braun were using so they dont suffer a drop off like they have in the past and they usually just press their luck and hope they are cycling off when their other random test comes up after spring training and they dont get flagged for a random test.
