Why isn't this headline asking me any questions? Also, what's the over-under on Mathieu picking off Romo?

saw a disproportionate number of Cowboy jerseys at the grocery store today, forgot why until i saw the beer aisle cleaned out.

kickoff in 20 minutes.  interesting to see the new Redbirds after the annus horibilis that was 2012.

he's the OC for the Browns or now or some AFC team.  I can't believe someone would hire him to coordinate an offense on any level given his disastrous final 2-3 years here.  you could say he was only playing the players Graves signed/drafted, but, Whiz had a hand in that shiat.

and as i always say, you've heard me say this before, he got the job because of his supposed "QB development" ability.  you can google the press conference and Mike Bidwill specifically said Whiz' track recrod (Benny Roth) was a major factor in the decision.  in retrospect, he didn't develop dick.  most of the guys taken under his tenure or "coachd up" under him are at best, at best, backups.  Max Hall is in the CFL, Leinart is on his couch, ugh.  I think Skelton is in TENN, and of course Kolb is likely the backup in Rough Buff.

Why would the NFL network care about that?

Seattle has a lot of talent in the secondary that won't make the team. If your team needs a cornerback or safety you should watch the game and hope they pick one of them up.

They don't. I'm guessing they're flipping back & forth between games.

MadMike5200: I thought they said it was a sellout in Phoenix? It shouldn't be blacked out because of attendance.

I just said it's not blacked out.  CBS is the "official station of the Dallas Cowboys" here in the Dallas market. So therefore, if you have Time Warner, you have no CBS because of the standoff between CBS & Time Warner. There is no blackout, which is what I said.

I think 'the man' at receiver is a close race between Megatron and Larry. Calvin is just a big, beastly, powerful monster. I think Larry might have just slightly, SLIGHTY, 'better hands'.

Either way, Calvin is an inch taller and has faster straight line speed...slightly. Bigger bodied.

You could go 1A and 1B with either and be right, I think.

Really, as good as some of the other receivers are in the NFL, I don't believe any are even close to these two. They are the Bugattis that are running with Porsches and Fords.

Andre, at his peak about 5 years ago, would have been a SOLID 2A not far behind, I think. A Ferarri or Lambourghini running with the Bugattis blowing the doors of the Volk...Porsches and Fords.

Meh.

I'd say he's "somewhat" overpaid. AJ Hawk is overpaid. Blaine Gabbert is overpaid. Sam Bradford is overpaid but COULD get out from under that if he starts playing like a #1 overall pick now that the rest of the team is good enough that they can give the offense some weapons.

If Romo is the best you can think of for "ZOMG OVERPAID!!1!" that you aren't trying very hard.

Problem I have is, when Rexy got the job, they had the best oline in football by a goodish margin. Four of the five starters were first rounders, or somesuch. Just amazing. AND he's let it turn into this.

True all teams are better with a good running game but especially the Jets with the defensive minded head coach, shiatty QB and good defense that could use an occasional breather.

They could just plug in a RB.  MOJO lead the league in rushing in JAX.  Not like the jagwads have a line.

He's got a 5 yard per carry average but he played behind an elite QB so he never had to run against a loaded front so it's hard for me to tell how he'll do.  I'm guessing not that well tho.  Sanchez isn't gonna chase the safety out of the box.

The Jets should have grabbed Lacey, Bell or Ball. There was some great RB value in the draft.  Or made a play for Mojo.  He's not going to keep playing for Khan's cheap ass.

THIS.

What we've seen so far, Lacy is lookin' pretty decent. The Rams D starters went 4-1-1 in the NFC west last year, remember

Rams punter is *averaging* 51 yards per punt.

I'd say that's more a description of how bad your offense is playing, than the effectiveness of your punter. If he can just LAUNCH that bad boy on nearly every kick, doesn't that mean you're kicking from your own end all the time? Or close to it?

Uhm....pardon me, but pretty much everyone that knows their ass from a hole in the ground about football knows Peyton puts in more raw work in prep and practice than just about any player in the history of ever.

And I have yet to hear otherwise about him now, or even recently.

They don't know if Manuel will be back for regular season, they'll have to see. Supposedly minor knee surgery, but since he's a mobile qb if it screws him up the Bills do not have another QB.

And apparently the penalty of the night is illegal formation.

Special Teams especially. Didn't like Wilson's over throws in the second half either. He's got to calm down, start working on hitting his targets. Though Wilson without the Lynch threat is a bit easier to defend against.

Peyton got frustrated early (especially his last sequence in the second quarter) if that happens in prime time he might not be as good a pick up for fantasy as he was looking.

How's Matt Ryan looking?

I wouldn't read too much into it.  The donks worked a lot of their young guys and they put the ball on the ground constantly.  Peyton is not the type that regresses.  Our running game looks like a huge ? tho.

Who is Denver's lead back? Well either way you'll play the chargers, chiefs and raiders six freaking games, so you only have to win 3 more and you'll lock the division up.

Well to be fair to Denver they did play San Fran and then the Hawks, while preseason its not exactly a fair one two punch considering again the state of the AFC west.

Just like the Hawks real test will be when GB shellacks the crap out of them next weekend (I've seen the future, EJ Manuel rookie of the year bills win the super bowl, the apocolypse happens shortly there after because of Greg Stillson).

Alex Smith will also crumble under the pressure of trying to prove that SF was dumb to let him go, which they weren't. Hell Seattle gave the raiders Flynn and the raiders are doing their best to make him regret not renegotiating and hanging on to Wilson's jock.

It can't be any worse than what they are doing now. Its funny seeing the AFC west in such disarray. Growing up in the 90's when Seattle was still in that division every god damn AFC west team would seemingly clown on the hawks regularly (aside from the raiders, because my mom liked the raiders so they had to lose to the hawks karma). Its weird Seattle is considered a good team, and just about everyone else in the West outside of denver is decidely not. What the f happened to the AFC west?

Olfin Bedwere: elguerodiablo: Olfin Bedwere: Everybody rips on Tavaris, but he's a solid backup QB.

Compared to other back ups hes actually really good but there's no way you want to roll him out as your starter. Even if he's put in due to injury you don't just shrug and say "eh he's close enough".

Hopefully if that happens, the defense will step up. He's not solid at all at starter, but at that point it would be a "just don't fark things up" situation.

Despite all the Russell Wilson love, Marshawn Lynch drives that offense, and the two guys behind him are wrecking balls, too.   The way this team runs, not even Tavaris could screw it up that bad.

To be fair to Tjack, at least this preseason he's actually showing a lot more poise than he's previously had. Though didn't he start out with AP lining up behind him? I swear he was the ball hander offer for Minnesota at one point.

Especially considering all the calls were against the Seahawks early - it was even pointed out that the Broncos did the same illegal downfield blocking with the ball in the air that the Seahawks got penalized for on the Broncos' only TD.

If you want some hilarious reading, check out the Broncos forum. Seattle buys off the refs, and the only reason Seattle has such a good record at home is because the refs go out of their way to look for penalties against the visiting team while ignoring Seattle penalties.

What I take away from this is massive hypocrisy. Seattle had a legitimate gripe in XL. For any fan of any team to complain about officiating in a game that doesn't matter, in the preseason especially, really demonstrates not only how ignorant their fan base is, but just how pathetic they are, too.

Denver drive: No penalties.
First DEN punt: Offsetting penalties.
Ensuing Seattle drive: Holding on Seattle. Holding on Seattle. False Start on Seattle (IIRC this is the one where no one moved and then the Denver guy stood up and pointed at McQuistan until the refs threw a flag)...after the TD, personal foul on Denver, basically meaning a touchback becomes a touchback...realistically no penalty.
Denver drive: No penalties.
Seattle drive: Offensive PI Seattle.
Denver drive: No penalties (despite doing the same exact thing Seattle just got PI for).
Denver drive (Seattle KR TD before this): When Seattle returns the fumble for a TD, personal foul for taunting.

So by the time Denver actually has a penalty of significance called on it, it's down 24-7, with the Seahawks having been called five times for non-offsetting penalties. Man, those refs SUCK at fixing things for Seattle.

/the next penalty on Denver offset a penalty on Seattle and was for illegal formation
//the same guy was in an illegal formation on the next play too, but the other foul was a personal foul on Denver, so the first penalty that was actually assessed against Denver (f*ck the whole "oh, you kicked off from the 50 instead of the 35" as though he didn't go through the end zone on the one before and after that) came after an incomplete pass on 3rd down in the second quarter, down 17 points, which turned a punt on Manning's last drive into a punt.

According to the Bronco fans, you're a homer who didn't see every single Seahawk either holding, pass interfering, or leading with their helmet. Also according to them, the alleged hi/low on Wolfe should be penalized with a fine, suspension, and possibly death.

Like I said earlier, Seattle had a legit gripe after XL. I can't believe fans of any team would cry as much as Denver fans did last night. What a bunch of girls.
