Lol wtf?!

2013-08-17 09:03:44 PM
10-9 Hall.  29-28 Hall.  another 30 seconds could have been another story, though

2013-08-17 09:03:54 PM
That's Rua's move, man.

2013-08-17 09:04:35 PM
Okay. Well... that was a thing.

2013-08-17 09:05:09 PM
I think Hall edged him out in the last round.

10-9 Hall

29-28 Hall

Wouldn't shock me if Howard wins though.

2013-08-17 09:06:09 PM
Terrible decision.

2013-08-17 09:06:19 PM
30-27? Wtf?!

2013-08-17 09:06:25 PM
The 30-27 was weird, but it was close enough either could have won it.

2013-08-17 09:06:31 PM
That's one of those fights where even the winner is still the loser

2013-08-17 09:06:49 PM
I dunno where they got 30-27 Howard, if that's really what I heard. I can buy 29-28 though.

I'm at the pizza shop tonight, and missing the fights. I'm dvr'ing them at the house, so I won't be hanging around in here. I do have a question. How does one interpret the odds that are shown after the fighters names? I'll see something like Askren (+204) vs Lyman (-112), and I'd like to know what the numbers mean.

Looks like a pretty good card all the way through.

2013-08-17 09:11:59 PM
Really looking forward to this fight.

In short, negative numbers equal favorites and positives are dogs.

The number, say +204 represents that you would win $204 if you bet $100. -112 represents that you would need to be $112 to win $100

+204 means that if you bet $100 on Askren and he wins, you win $204 (plus your original $100).  -112 means that in order to win 1
$100, you need to bet $112.  So if Lyman wins and you bet $112, you win $100 plus your original $112. (or more likely you bet a nice round $100 and get back your original $100 plus around $90 of profit... too lazy to do the math)

I was talking about the Bendo/Pettis rematch they were pimping before that "fight" that just happened, lol

Beating Mike Pyle means you're ready for GSP?  OK then.

psychicdeath99: libranoelrose: Uriah? Faber?

It's another two Uriah night, just like in April.

I asked them on Twitter if they had it in their contracts that they had to fight on all the same cards.

I've never been the sports betting type, and was always mildly curious what the odds meant, but too lazy to look it up. Thanks for answering that guy's question. You've also taught me.

One Bad Apple: ZeroCorpse: I don't understand how people keep watching UFC. It always comes down to someone getting an armbar or some other solid lock, and the match being ended. I've never seen an actual toe-to-toe martial arts fight that went the whole distance with both guys staying on their feet. It ALWAYS seems to degrade to two guys rolling around on the floor trying to get each other in a lock, or pin the other guy down to deliver a few elbows.

Of course, I dropped out of watching it a long time ago... Maybe I missed that one time the two guys actually fought instead of wrestling... But what I remember is the Gracies basically turning the whole thing into a competition to see who would get an armbar or joint lock first.

If they wanted it to be interesting, they'd ban wrestling on the floor. If you get off your feet and drop to the floor willingly, you're out.

That's becayse you don't know f*ck all about martial arts. You just watched too many movies about them. There have been plenty of fights that consisted of pure stand up and striking but to say that wrestling isn't fighting just reeks of anime fanboyism.

Armbars and chokes et al END fights even more effectively than a KO. If you can't fight on the ground you will be eaten alive by those that can. 15 years ago the UFC proved that. Dozens of martial LARPists thought they could bring something as one dimensional as "just standing up" and got clowned.

Go back to fapping to Naruto reruns kid.

1. I  HATE anime and manga, so f♥ck you and your "witty" swipe.

2. I'm in my 40s, so f♥ck you with that "kid" bullshiat. (Didn't I say I stopped watching when the Gracies were dominating UFC? What was that? 25 years ago?)

3. BOXERS seem to be fully capable of having an entire match without ending up on the ground. I never did, anyway, when I was doing it (tell me again how I don't understand any martial arts, by the way.) Kickboxers also manage to fight several rounds without grappling on the canvas. I'm pretty sure all the karate matches I saw ended without anyone wrapping his legs around the other guy's head, too.

If you like to watch wrestling, that's fine. They should stop calling it MMA and start calling it wrestling, because that's what it comes down to. Maybe the ground fighters DO dominate, but that doesn't make it fun  to watch.

Yeah, I was really looking forward to it too, big fan of both those guys. Dammit. Wanted 3 rounds.

Got it.  Mixed means only mixing about half of the martial arts.

I think the UFC would be better off if just threw the "competition" aspect out of the window and focused on trying to entertain the fans.  You can script the outcomes to make them more exciting, and yeah, you can do mat wrestling and stuff, but you could do some really flashy moves to get the crowd worked up.  And you'll have some people here and there call it "fake", but you're not gonna do it to their face.  Get what I'm saying?
