Why would people boycott an Orlando Bloom Batman?

Honestly, this doesn't seem like a bad choice.

I suppose Batman was never big on showing emotion either, so I guess it works.

If your concept of Batman stems from the old Adam West Batman, or the early 80's cartoon Batman, then yes, it could work. Even the Michael Keaton/Val Kilmer/George Clooney Batman series, he could pull that off. But if your perspective comes from the comics, from the 90's and onwards animated series, from the Nolan Batman, then no, he isn't going to be able to pull that off.

I heard it will be Adam Sandler, with Justin Bieber as Robin.

Why? I don't dislike Bloom. I actually liked him in Pirates and Lord of the Rings, but I don't think he would make a good Batman.

Isn't Batman suppose to be kinda buff, and no dirt-stash and goatee.

This right here.

It's not that anyone's hating on him, he's just not physically right for the role.

This is probably just someone floating an idea to the press to see the reactions it gets.

I would've said the same thing about Chris Pratt, but he seems to be pulling off Guardians of the Galaxy

Ill watch it at home on my 3D blu-ray purchased copy and then again multiple times again on my tablet.

I'm not much of a hater.

Plus I have a cruiser/crawler at home, so I'll pretty much watch anything.

Csb/ I purchased the flashpoint paradox JL last night at target BR/DVD/DC for $8, looking forward to it.

Shouldn't one of the prerequisites for the part be that the actor be physically, a man.

A few years back, fanboys were throwing a fit because the guy from Brokeback Mountain was cast to play the Joker. I wouldn't worry too much about their opinions.

A good deal of nerdy men may boycott, but the number of  women agreeing to see the movie with their husbands just shot through the roof.

I think I was one of the few that thought Ledger was a great choice. I'd seen many roles that he showed such range and emotion that I thought he could really nail the Joker.

I simply don't believe there's anything remotely that deep in Bloom. I like him. I think he has roles he's fit for, I just don't see him playing a brooding genius detective superhero. The talent just isn't there yet for him to be imposing.

Maybe as Catwoman.

I thought we wanted an older pissed off Batman to play off Superman?

Legolas may or may not be horrible in the role, but I don't see the point except to bring in Legolas' screaming female & gay dude fans.

Ha, that would be a good choice as pissed off drunken fighty Batman, and then Superman can kill him.

Bah, superman doesn't kill humans... Have it be some overly convoluted plan of Lex Luthor's taking out Batman by mistake!

Interesting, what happens when a character who can never lose is played by an actor who can never live.  I'm going to plug that question into google and see if it breaks.

Or, Bats can take some super seekrit drug cocktail that slows his heartbeat down so far that even Superman can't hear it.

Sean Bean as Batman in an All-Star Superman/Batman meetup where Batman gets killed would be BRILLIANT! Hype it as a lead-in to Justice League but secretly make it a one-off to get good reviews.

LectertheChef: from the 90's and onwards animated series

Someone hasn't been watching "Batman: The Brave and the Bold". I haven't either, but the dark and brooding Batman is not the current trend for the character. And frankly, after Nolan's films, I am sick and tired of the Dark Knight style Batman. Even DC knows it- they're running a non-canon comic series starring the Adam West Batman.

I remember one episode of the 90's dark Batman where Myxlplyx showed up and turned them into 80's Superfriends-version Batman. Was hilarious.

And I want to see Zan from the Wonder Twins turn into a villain.

He gets sick of being the laughing stock of for DC universe since he can only become forms of water. So he lock Jana in a box to conveniently have her around to activate powers, and starts destroying everything by taking the forms of a water elemental, or an ice golem, or a category-5 hurricane...

Because Orlando Bloom played a perfectly convincing medieval blacksmith, Crusading warrior, and expertly sword-fighting pirate, amirite?

He wasn't the problem in Kingdom of Heaven, although it also was odd casting IMO.

Legolas probably would have been better off being Robin Hood for Ridley Scott, and then having Russell Crowe be a blacksmith for Kingdom of Heaven.

When the movie casting was announced, I was among the group of people saying "What?" I mean, I liked Heath Ledger in everything I saw him in, and thought he was a great actor, but I didn't see him pulling off the insane menace that was the Joker.

Then, the test shots of his makeup came out. Holy shiat, that was creepy. So OK, he had the look, but I still was reserving myself for something silly.

Finally, when the teaser trailer came out, with just a Bat-symbol and various characters talking, and it ended with Ledger belting out the best Joker laugh this side of Hamill himself. After that, I couldn't wait to see the film. And what do you know, he knocked that shiat out of the park.

But Bloom as Batman... I just don't see it in my head at all. Someone has been floating around a picture of Josh Brolin in the suit and cape, sans cowl, and he looked exactly like the Paul Dining and Bruce Timm version of Bruce Wayne come to life. It's exactly the look I have for Batman in my head, and I think he could pull off the voice too. Certainly better than Bale's gravel gargling one, anyway.

Him as Robin Hood made me think of Bloom as Oliver Queen. I think he could pull Green Arrow, but there would be too many Legolas comparisons I'm sure.

Viggo Mortensen as a Two-Face could work.
