So he'll be out for 50 games at the start of next season... at least they're getting him up with guys on base.

2013-08-17 01:39:42 PM
a-rod should rat him out just to troll the yankees

Meh. Remember at the start of the season when Travis Hafner was hitting about .320 with 5 HR and 20 RBI? Yeah, these things have a way of evening themselves out.

This couldn't have happened while he was a Cub?

Fair enough. But also to be fair, Soriano's timing of the tear is way better than Hafner's. No one cares about the first 2 months of the season. It's what you do now that counts.

Gosling: This couldn't have happened while he was a Cub?

No. The Cubs don't deserve happiness.

Gotta cool off eventually, but hopefully no time soon.

In other news, Miguel Tejada's getting suspended for 105 games after testing postive twice for Adderall.

He hit five homers in four games for the Cubs last month.

He's on PEDs.

Hard to get lots of RBis with nobody on base.

yanno, I still can't hear his name without thinking about those guys in Oakland Coliseum that would do a drum riff and shout his name.

Soriano -- like he never left.

Yep.  The guy gets on some streaks.  The rest of the time?  Enjoy that .220.

He will cool down a little, but he is still going to hit a ton with the Yankees. In the Yankees line up he has protection and because of that he is seeing a lot more fastballs. In the Cubs line up he had no protection and he got a lot of off speed pitches. A change in line ups can do wonders for a batter.

I seriously think Tim stroked out a little there. Did he seriously try to rationalize that the reason pitchers do better at home is because of the -mound-?

False. Every game counts the same.

Lackey isn't going to far in this game, 34 pitches in the first inning.

I remember McCarver saying back in the 80's.

'Games you win in April you don't have to win in September.'

Tim just.. retire.. now.. don't wait for the end of the season. It's time, buddy.

Yea, his hand was in there before the tag

McCarver continuing to insist after replays that Soriano was out, those are the great Fox Sports moments I'm looking for on their new channel.

I like the way he explained to us that there are MLB players that still pick up their lead foot  and put it back down when they are attempting to steal second instead of just pivoting on it, like they are supposed to do, because they don't know not to. Because if they knew not to do it, they wouldn't do it.

Great fielding there, really great.

Geez, second AND third base umps don't have their contacts in.

Anyone on this infield want to play defense?

2013-08-17 05:30:17 PM
I think a new advanced metric, dLTG (defensive losses above a traffic cone with a glove on it) needs to be invented for Eduardo Nunez.

oh look, another blown call on the bases

2013-08-17 05:32:44 PM
Unless ARod missed the tag, dude was out

2013-08-17 05:34:50 PM
..and Nunez's dLTG goes up more

2013-08-17 05:40:22 PM
Well that was..........something?

2013-08-17 05:45:07 PM
McCarver: There is NO WAY they would have turned two! No chance! None at all! It was not going to be a double play! What do you think, Joe?
Girardi: Well, I thought he had a chance to turn a double play

Then McCarver comes back and says that Girardi is just saying that to protect Overbay because the throw should have gone home. Way to have the last word McCarver.

He is one of the streakiest hitters in baseball... why do you think Cubs fans were praying the team would trade him?

Never had much issue with the streaking hitting. Most of his hitting woes were due to having none else around him that scared pitchers. My issue was the horrendous fielding, and half the payroll going in his pocket every year.
