That's a great phrase.  It really works well with the whole Rand/Koch thing.  I'm stealing it.

Now you got cheap legal weed that might not be a bad thing.

It's like these people who were born into privilege and handed everything they needed to succeed are some how disconnected from the rest of us.  It's like they lack a certain human emotion called empathy that allows people to act for a greater good and not just their own self interests.

Hooray for modern Capitalism and the Age of the Psychopath.

Too bad it didn't work. Sacramento is a ghost town that over-leveraged itself to build an arena that will never be completed. A scumbag, teenager-molesting mayor and a scumbag lawyer turned down sure money in order to convince a moron city council to drive themselves more quickly into bankruptcy.

It would have been better for everyone had this worked.

The NBA, at this point, is a joke league. It eschews multi-sport cities for cow towns like Sacramento, Oklahoma City, and Memphis. It wants a monopoly in one-horse cities that will do anything to keep a team because, well, you saw what's going on in Sacramento right now. They will be Stockton soon enough.

You are right, Eyman is a idiot and fellow idiots follow him like sheep. He is an egomaniac.

Your Average Witty Fark User: The NBA and Kevin Johnson played dirty from day one, this is just Hansen showing he has the balls to play their game.

By "their game" you mean "stupid"?

Seattle will never have an NBA team as long as Stern's alive.  They have a monopoly and always need a hungry city to blackmail other cities to fund their taxes-for-arenas scam, and Seattle makes the perfect example because they had the balls to tell the previous ownership to go fark themselves.  Now Seattle is the example.

I know it's all legal, but playing dirty politics in Sacramento won't give Hansen what he wants.  So using a PAC just comes off as scummy.

RickN99: Good headline, full of insinuation since the "this" mentioned in the headline as a "violation of state law" is not even in the headline.

The broken California law was that the PAC to which Hansen donated the money did not file some of their disclosure paperwork on time.  Nothing about the identity of the donor was illegal, nor was the amount illegal, nor was the purpose illegal.

Jeezus one guy in here gets it.

He's a resident of San Francisco- less than two hour's drive to Sacto. He can do whatever he wants on his own time with his own money. He didn't break the law, as you've noted, the PAC did. And how the fark is this any different than when Sacto do the exact same thing, with taxpayer money no less, in Anaheim? It isn't.

The intricacies of the footprint for the potential new arena, plus the funding and the borderline illegal kickbacks, will prevent this arena from being built. All the NBA had to do was say "You gave it your best Sacto, and we gave you years to get it done, now GTFO". The NBA and Kevin Johnson played dirty from day one, this is just Hansen showing he has the balls to play their game. No big deal.

Rwa2play: Really? Uh, I'm sorry but David Stern and the NBA are farking scumbags. I really don't have a problem with Hansen doing this because, frankly, Stern did it to him.

What did Sacramento do to him again?

The people involved in the whole Sacramento-Seattle fiasco are all investment bankers or lawyers.

What more do you need to know?

Oh, he's not even the worst of the lot.  Washington's got this joker named Tim Eyman whose only real job OR hobby seems to be trying to pass initiatives so he can watch the state burn.

Anyway, I want a basketball team in Seattle. . . but not like this.
