(Daily Mail)   Moyes is already whining like SAF, Wenger has spent £80 on a wheelie bin and stale chips, and the Special One is already stirring the pot. Colour me chuffed, it's the start of the 2013/14 English Premier League season   (dailymail.co.uk) divider line 728

ADubs86: Palace looking good early. They, like Liverpool were yesterday, are missing that killer pass to open things up in the final third, but their defending is solid. Really pleased with the support making noise as well.

Some of the best singing/chanting i've heard in a while

Great shot there, but Spurs really need to pick it up.  The new team maybe needs a bit more time to gel, but it will always be hard to break down an Ian Halloway team at home.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying hearing those fans. They're into it big time. Good stuff.

dietbubba: Gunners fans, comments?

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/aug/17/arsene-wenger-arsena l- aston-villa

I said a similar thing upthread, but it comes down to a few factors:

1) Wenger misjudging Arsenal's much lowered standing in the footballing world and assuming that Arsenal is a top destination for ambitious players.

2) Wenger's unrealistic valuations of how much players are worth in relation to the current market. I think he's been expecting FFFP to force teams to sell high-priced players to meet those obligations, but it hasn't happened. And the prices have not gone down.

There are some other factors at play, too (Wenger's lack of concern about not having new players and overconfidence in the team's abilities, among others), but really, I'd chalk it up to the first two.

Come on you spurs! You got this, just settle the hell down!

Chadli! Gotta keep that down! Gah!

Anyone hear about Falcao feeling remorse over joining Monaco? Hard to feel sorry for the guy.

Princip's Sandwich: Anyone hear about Falcao feeling remorse over joining Monaco? Hard to feel sorry for the guy.

Nope, don't feel bad for him at all. It's one thing to leave a lower league or non-CL club for a CL club, it's another to take the money and run, and that's what he did. Tough shiat Radamel, you had it good at Atletico and you wasted it for the paycheck.

Bad luck for Palace.

Clear penalty. No doubt about that one.

I don't think the remorse is team related. I'd be pretty upset, too, if after I signed a contract I heard rumors that the tax law might change and cost me half of my salary.

Just woke up. Was the first half this abusive on CP?

ScouserDuck: Just woke up. Was the first half this abusive on CP?

No, Palace were holding their own, making a lot of defensive stops and some chances in the last third, seems Spurs have ramped up the pressure in the second half.

ADubs86: Day 2 biatches! I'm not as hungover as I was yesterday, so it's time to get drunk again!

I'm very hungover. First weekend away from the 8.5-month-old in 8.5 months. Took full advantage at the steakhouse last night

According to Marca, it's both.

Monaco's tax law changed AND because of that, the owner of Monaco hasn't dished out his wallet as hard. Once again, hard to feel sorry for him. He went full mercenary on that decision, time to stand by it.

they played a great first half. Defensively pretty solid although Spurs had their chances. A bit of bad luck with the penalty (deserved but not intentional). Spurs are gonna be scary when the new players really start to gel.

Papers are reporting that he's already been offered to other teams and turned down at least once. Agree that it's hard to feel sorry for him.

One of the reasons I don't like commercial radio is that the upbeat tone/enthusiasm gets more fervent when it is a poor game. They won't ever admit its not a good game either.

I've been browsing 4chan too long. Every time I see CP as the abbreviation for Palace, I start giggling.

Palace just can't piece everything they need to score together right now.

2013-08-18 10:01:18 AM
Wow, that was an impressive save from Lloris there. One screw up and Palace was on the board for sure.

I did a double-take at ScouserDuck's question upthread. Took me a moment before I realized he was asking about Crystal Palace.

Chadli has been wasteful with the ball today.

Nice to see a good ref for once. Haven't seen him mess up a decision yet.

It's been said already, but these Palace fans are bringing the awesome today.

Palace trying damn hard to equalize.

Palace didn't deserve to lose this game. If not for the handball, this had draw written all over it.

2013-08-18 10:24:54 AM
Excellent match, Crystal Palace show why they want to stay in the big show. Excellent play all around.

Unlucky but good showing from Palace. They look a side that might steal a few from some top-half sides.
The support is massive, still singing even after the game in done at to voice. Pleasant to hear.

Whew, close one.  Great win spurs, needed that win!

Hey, did you guys know Jose Mourinho is back at Chelsea?

Torres at the top?  Interesting.  And no Juan Matta?
