(Daily Mail)   Moyes is already whining like SAF, Wenger has spent £80 on a wheelie bin and stale chips, and the Special One is already stirring the pot. Colour me chuffed, it's the start of the 2013/14 English Premier League season   (dailymail.co.uk) divider line 728

ScouserDuck: Princip's Sandwich: It's quite amazing no one's tried to get Michu. Guy's always plugged into the game.

Arsenal has thought about possibly making an offer on him.

Laudrup already said Michu is not for sale at any price.

Langston: Pretty much, Adubs86. Arsenal boasted of a large warchest at the beginning of the summer, then couldn't close any of the deals. Not one. Arsene seems to believe that Arsenal is still as respected today as they were 10 years ago, when they were a top, top team. That hasn't been the case for several years now. Arsenal will have to overspend on top players until they have recent silverware to point to. Because players don't consider Arsenal to be title contenders. And they're right.

Well said. Smart money goes in early in the window and hard. If you get that first big singing, then the others come easier and you actually build momentum towards your new season. The exact opposite of this would be what Arsenal has done.

star_topology: I like this guy already. He painted a beautiful picture of the Liberty Stadium with his words prior to kick off: "rain falling from slate gray skies."

Is he talking about Wales or Manchester?

Xlr8urfark: Arsenal need another Dein. Somebody to handle transfers. Wenger may be smart, but he's apparently not smart enough to evolve with the game. IT.HAS.CHANGED. You can't expect to pilfer league one and come up with an Henry every 2 years. It's just not happening. If Arsenal piss about and let Ox, Wilshere, etc get fed up and leave, Wenger will have destroyed his legacy whilst wasting 10 years+ of Arsenal fan's time and money. Something has to give this year, and I hope it's Kroenke out, Stan in, Wenger out, a new hungry coach in.

Speaking of Ligue 1, did anyone else see Alan Shearer's comment that Newcastle have too many French guys? Hilarious. Like a Geordie Don Cherry.

Really liking the Swansea movement, wish more teams played as brightly.

I don't dislike Wenger as a coach, but he sucks at transfers. I don't see Dein returning, so hopefully Arsenal finds a negotiator. Let Arsene give the guy a list of players he wants and set the negotiator loose with a checkbook.

United look pretty good so far, but just can't get that final touch on it.  Also really enjoying the commentary team so far.

Giggs look a bit off it tonight, two really good chances wasted.

I'd rather listen to Arlo White spend twenty minutes reading from a phone book than hear Gus Johnson excitedly mispronounce someone's name.

/I like Gus, but it was painful listening to his learning curve.

Ok, I see Man U can have three guys on Michu and it matters fark all at actually denying him a scoring chance.

United players stop playing and stare at Dowd.

No foul.

I don't think they suck, but they're clearly having an issue with the audio being ahead of the video.

Farking van Persie.

Oh dear, another goal.

Every year I tell myself Van Persie's too expensive for my fantasy team, and that I could better spend my budget elsewhere.  Every year I'm regretting it a very short time into the season.

Woo! Unproductive Saturdays again!! Of course Dish isn't showing that extra stuff...dagnabit.

Im signed up for the FFPL, and I love the idea of the winner getting a shirt from their team. I can even spring a couple of bucks.

As for last place, I recommend they be relegated to a lower fantasy prediction league, like NFL.

//it'd probably be baseball, then nfl

I can't believe Liverpool have offloaded more than they've transferred in this year.

Out of curiousity, why do you think so?  I really enjoy it, knowledgeable team, don't talk too much, great excitement when needed, etc.

UGH....just to heap more misery...

Seriously, AW needs to go.  In his best interest, in the club's best interest.  Get Hiddink in there and stem the tide until January.

Since Jan '11 RVP has more Premier League goals than anyone else. Rooney is 2nd with 49. Wish West Ham had bought him from Arsenal...

Michu sticking his foot in here and yet no fouls.

United have settled down, they're noticeably more comfortable when they're holding a lead (although honestly, who doesn't), but add me to the list of people who love watching Swansea play.

2013-08-17 01:42:11 PM
That clash of knees looked like it hurt. De Gea looks like he may have tweaked it.
