(USA Today)   That WV judge who was busted yesterday did a hell of a lot more than try to scam a free set of whitewalls from a tire shop, including trying to frame his mistresses' husband three separate times on drugs, assault, and robbery charges   (usatoday.com) divider line 21

Three times?  Points for persistence.

This type of gross misuse of authority needs to be met with the ultimate punishment.  I'm talking about deading him.

We need to bring back public canings. People are not scared of prison but they are scared of pain.

Lou Brown: Let me get back to you, will ya, Charlie? I got a guy on the other line asking about some white walls

No the problem is a douche like him would be put into one of those minimum security (luxury) prisons.  He needs to be put in among hard core criminals without being in protective custody.  The immates will really really love him.

They still shoot horses, don't they?

Or stocks in the town square. Put them in it for a few weeks have people throw rotten food at him. Then wipe out his pension and any chance of ever getting a public job again.

the question is WHY did it take 3 TIMES to finally get charges brought against him? and WHERE was the LOCAL DA and sheriff during all this. Their jobs need to be stripped as well. They basically enabled this schmuck to do everything after the 1st offense...

In other words, he's in line to move up to the state appeals court?

That's the million-dollar question this is Boss Hogg-level corruption and abuse of authority:

Thornsbury allegedly plotted to have a friend plant drugs under the husband's truck, then have troopers pick him up. The friend backed out at the last minute

When the husband was the victim of an armed assault outside a convenience store, prosecutors say the judge arranged to have the charges dropped against the two assailants-then had the husband charged as the perpetrator. He allegedly pressured prosecutors to try to imprison the husband for six months over the incident, but they dropped the charges

Thornsbury allegedly got a state trooper to arrest the husband on false grand larceny charges-claiming that he stole scrap metal from his job, even though his employer had given permission to take it-then installed a business associate as foreman of the grand jury. The case unraveled when one of the subpoenaed businesses made public the ties between the judge and the foreman, reports the Wall Street Journal.

And the worst part is this wasn't him basically trying to get the husband out of the way because he wanted more time with the wife, because he started doing all this AFTER she borke off the affair

The McCoys did not live in Mingo County or anywhere else in West Virginia, for that matter.  They lived in Kentucky.

Agreed.  Seems the whole community was okay with that behavior.

Bit of a correction necessary here, subby.  This judge is not the same public official that tried to bully his way to a tire discount in yesterday's FARK story.  That guy was a county commissioner.

Since the two of them are buddies, though, and were indicted on the same day, your confusion is easy to understand.

And yeah, there is a hell of a lot more to both of their stories.

The Hatfields however were Mingo COunty royalty, Sid Hatfield was the sheriff of Mingo County who foaught on the side of the Miners during the infamous Matewan massacre

See, this is why judges need unions, too.

If he had a union to back him, all this would have been dismissed as "of course he has always acted with the highest degree of professionalism" and "judges have a dangerous job and should not have to look over their shoulders before every move"..

Judges are pretty powerful. They might not have had any cooperation from the other people involved in his other "get that guy" schemes. Would you want to squeal on a judge that has tried to set the same guy up 3 times?

MarvDaMartian: Don't know about the DA, but the sheriff was shot and killed while parked in his patrol car in front of the courthouse a few months back, so he at least has an excuse.

DA got a pass on professional courtesy.

YES.  If he's willing to go to these lengths just to be a bigger dick to the guy whose wife he used to bang, I want him gone before he finds a reason to be pissed at me without me knowing it.
