I briefly pondered if I cared then decided the Suez can be secured by international forces if it needs to be and otherwise nope not finding a care. Fact I think the care-o-meter is in the negatives and they're just sucking the care out into a quantum singularity.

I'm with you on not caring too much, but I also don't want to see the pyramids and the sphinx blown up by fundamentalist muslims.

Tough call to make on what to believe.

Is the military and its supporters trying to stop the Muslim Brotherhood from consolidating their hold on power by limiting the rights of others, all to bring about a theocracy like Iran?

Or is the military fighting to maintain its control of things under this storyline to return to the same thing as before?

That is correct but they have been getting a boatload of weapons from the US every year for a long time so they have some conventional stuff that can fark up a lot of people.

I'd say a little from column A and a little from column B. The end game for the Muslim Brotherhood is a Muslim theocratic government in Egypt based on their conservative version of Islam. The military leadership is likely trying to maintain their control of the Egyptian armed forces and the civilian government with the people caught in between. Like you said it's hard to tell what's really going on and if nothing else it's a pretty shiatty situation all around.

Yep, pull all aid, close the bases, bring everyone home and put the money that we were dumping into that toilet into sustainable energy. The idea that we should care about what these silly little sandblasted assmagicians do to reach other is outdated and ridiculous.

2013-08-16 11:41:58 AM
Didn't the Muslim Brotherhood way back in the Arab Spring days say they had no interest in political office???

Then they changed their minds and said, "Yeah, we're fielding a candidate, but don't worry, if we win, we'll maintain the Egyptian government's custom of secularism"

Then Morsi got in and started replacing people with MB guys, then he basically told their Supreme Court they could not overrule any decision he made.
That's when people finally said screw this and the military took him out.

Now those who dream of another Caliphate are pissed off because they were sooooooo close!

Meanwhile, Israel is thinking, "CRAP! They may decide, for their peace of mind to settle the differences in in BOTH Syria and Egypt. At that point, all hell will breakl loose and the Christian Fundies in the US will all have a spontaneous Apocalypto-gasm.

Yep, if there's one thing that this particular religion of 1.5 billion seems to have down, it's Rage. Pretty good persecution complex as well, for ~25% of the world (and growing).

If we pull the plug, the Muslim Brotherhood wins. The MB does not support the treaty with Israel. The military does.

So the MB eventually goes to war with Israel, Israel nukes the crap out of the Middle east, oil production shuts down, and oil dependent third world agriculture shuts down, starving billions.

Best to exterminate the MB, methinks.
