Big Beef Burrito: This is what I am wondering, too? Did he obstruct the investigation, or is he a rat?

Both. The other names were intended to be shiny distractions that would allow him to get away.

you have pee hands: So the other guys are Ok for cheating and A-Rod is a dirtbag for saying "Yeah, me, sure, but them too?"

I don't like A-Rod either but give me a farking break.

It is most definitely NOT A-Rod's job to obtain the documents and leak them to the media, in fact it is a direct violation of the confidentiality agreement as it relates to the JDA.

That's not cooperating or helping MLB in any way when he would have had every opportunity to come clean when he was interviewed as part of their investigation.

Throwing the Russian peasant off the sleigh is intended to distract the ravenous wolf pack, not to feed them.

The Bestest: I'm just waiting for a ball to bounce off A-Rod's head and over the fence for a homerun.

Seeing as ARod is a third baseman, that'd be one hell of a shot off the head.

I'm okay with that.

The hidden bat trick is much rarer than the hidden ball trick.

So when can the media start apologizing and publicly washing Canseco's feet?

Hopefully never.

When A-Rod's first steroid scandal broke a few years ago, he was asked on TV if he would have wanted the other 100 or so names on that list, which were supposed to remain confidential, to be released.  He said no, because he didn't want others to go through what he was going through - and I gave him credit for that.  I really wish I were surprised by this, and I wish I knew whether he was just lying through his teeth back then, or if he's done a complete 180 since then.  Probably the former, le sigh.

It really is hard to believe that someone who would break the rules of his chosen profession might also be a duplicitous taint in other ways also.

desertgeek: WhiskeySticks: A-Rod best watch his back, Jewish gangs are ready to bring down the Hebrew Hammer to avenge Braun.

It's not the Jewish gangs he should worry about (they probably want to disown Braun after his lying). A-Fraud is about to go into Fenway Park, into that tiny visitors clubhouse with teammates who now know that he'll throw "his brothers" under the bus to protect himself. Oh, and the Red Sox don't like him either.

A-Fraud needs to worry about his teammates and the other players doing something to him, I think.

But the Sox are cool with Ortiz juicing then lying about it

Im trying to say every team has (likely way more than) at least one juicer. So them hating on the biogenesis bunch is stupid. Hell, the drug tests didn't catch the guys (other than Braun, Colon and Cabrera). Juicing is really common in the MLB and them hating the guys that got busted while loving David "I'll find the real juicer, I promise" Ortiz is pathetic.

All about the laundry.  Release all the names on all the list and let history decide.

And to think I was so disappointed when the league stopped the Red Sox from trading for A-Rod. At least Manny was entertaining to watch until he decided to go into Full Jerk Mode.

Think about this: many said that Braun was pulling a Lance Armstrong when he accepted his suspension. I'd argue that what A-Fraud is doing is going full Lance and then some. And who would've thought that was even possible?

Did A-Rod try to ruin the careers of everyone around him for a decade before finally admitting to it?  Braun sort of tried but didn't really have the time.  That's what really makes Armstrong a bigger douche than the rest of them IMO.

The premature release of a player's name is a direct violation of the collective bargaining agreement.

I'm sure the rules prohibit players from doing this but they probably get a little fuzzy when you try to apply them to "inner circle" members.

That's not what he did.

I can't get this timeline straight. Did he rat on the players before he told every kid he met at the burn ward that Santa isn't real, or was it after he flashed a pic of naked 60 year old Madonna at a press conference which caused an effect similar to the pie eating contest in stand by me?

He also gives out apples to trick-or-treaters.

He also talks during movies.

After he cuts silent but deadly ones in the clubhouse he loudly proclaims, "Phew, who cut the cheese?"

If that's true then A-Rod just made himself a target.  He just gave license to any pitcher to go high and tight after him knowing that his teammates won't even so much raise a yawn if he got beaned.

Is this the thread where I'm supposed to be mad because sentimental sportswriters stuck in the 1950s think the 'sanctity' of pro baseball has been violated? Because me and 95% of the public couldn't care less about whether pro athletes use PEDs. More power to them. It might make baseball actually interesting.

There is no difference since everyone is on steroids, too.

Remember: the Biogenesis bunch never tested positive (other than Braun, Cabrera and Colon). That means that they passed many, many tests. What faith does that put on the testing process? The only reason these guys got busted was because the owner of Biogenesis didn't pay back a loan, so the guy squealed. Otherwise, no one would know about this stuff. You really think that there are no other things going on right now?
