People can go anywhere for a protest. They go to Madison for the fun atmosphere and the flair is part of that

Maybe they should start singing Edelweiss.

Wow, arrested for taking a picture of cops arresting an old woman. This won't go well for the officers involved, as it is already established that police can be photographed or videotaped while in the course of an arrest. The journalist was not blocking them or obstructing them, so the officers should get hit with a false arrest charge and drummed out of law enforcement.

We don't need jackbooted thugs wearing the badge.

The problem is they keep coming unarmed. The fascist bastards are the ones with the guns.

Have your protest outside.  Allegedly, people are trying to work in that building.

I feel bad for the people in Wisconsin.  They had two choices.  Vote D and continue on the path to Detroit like all Democrat areas do or to vote R and get this mess.  I suppose this is better.

And the protests are disrupting none of them. It is our constitutional right to be there in that building.

Romney also harmed the economy here when he was here. Patrick isn't a bad governor. The democratic legislature, while probably insanely corrupt (at least the Speaker, who has ungodly power) has been in power for the past 60 years.

There was only a ~20 year span where Republicans actually held the governorship. Weld and Celluci are generally regarded as good. Romney wanted nothing to do with us though.

What kind of journalist doesn't stream their video coverage to a secure offsite location? Without doing that, the police can erase your footage and charge you with anything they want and then it's just your word against the officer's, and the police officer always wins.

So no, I predict that this guy has no chance of mounting a successful "First Amendment" defense. He has no evidence (any more).

Well, the camera with an empty sd card might be a bit of a clue to the court, especially with multiple witnesses he was taking photos in the area of the singing prior to the arrest. He would have no reason to wipe the card himself, so the implication is that someone else did it while he was in custody. Is it proof? No, but it does provide reasonable doubt to refute the charges against the reporter.

The Muthaship: Time and place restrictions on where protests are held are also Constitutional.

Only when made publicly known and also, there's a limit as to how far those restrictions can go. Plus in this case there's the larger point that if the governor wasn't a total pussy he could end it by actually talking to people and accepting that he may not actually be doing the right thing. As it is, he is a total pussy.

I think it's meant as the physical building, rather than the city being the state capitol... but who knows anymore, last I heard, the official language in the U.S. is 3rd grade English, grammar is hard.

Ummm... Wisconsin is something like 49/50 in jobs down frm I think 18/50 when walker took office. He aslo has dropped to under 50% approval. So I call shenanigans on your statement.

Obama's in a real quandary. He wants to keep sending military aid but is afraid the "cheesy leader" may use it on his own people or their neighbors And nuclear weapons are off the table, although some have been stockpiled.

Meanwhile, Kim Jong Un's playbook is selling out in the centers of power in Madison.

Yes, but one of them littered by dropping a receipt from Starbucks. The cleanup will cost the Wisconsin taxpayers 5 billion dollars.

In Wisconsin? I suspect at most the charges will get dropped or dismissed and that will be the end of it. Remember...it's not a crime when republicans do it. Although I suspect the cops who are forced to do this really don't like it very much...

What the hell is the point of even arresting these people? It's just a Streisand Effect: Stop caring and the rest of the world will too, and these people will dwindle and disappear within 6 months.

The economy is better in WI?  That's news to me.

I'm fortunate enough to not be affected by it, but the WI economy is near dead last for job creation.  Even funnier, Scott Walker went to Stevens Point a couple of weeks ago and tried to take credit for the company Skyward creating a bunch of high tech jobs.

Never mind the fact that it was his administration that nearly forced the company to leave the state, and it was Democratic senators who came up with a legislative solution to their problems.

Walker is a coward, a cheat, and an idiot.  Naturally he's popular with the GOP.

I'm really glad Republicans started using "Democrat" as an adjective.  Makes it really easy to know when to stop reading.
